Last week I had the opportunity to take a solo trip in the woods of Wisconsin to do some thinking, reflecting, and planning. Didn’t know how badly my soul needed it until I got there and was immersed in quiet. I didn’t see another person for 48 hours straight. That’s hard for an extrovert, but also necessary at times.
At the risk of sounding cheesy, I was thinking about the grand scheme of things and how love is really the measure of our lives and how our connections with one another need to be meaningful…but so often they aren’t. I don’t believe we are meant to glide through this world with people being transactions—people are the point. Full stop.
This is true for businesses too. Sure, the bottom line is important; but it’s not the most important. Through our businesses we are allowed to meet fellow humans— to encourage each other, to be unhurried and to actually enjoy what we are doing. I can’t imagine running a business in any other way.
Often I hear my husband Rob, an SEO consultant, on the phone with clients. He inspires me because he shares his story with anyone who listens. And he genuinely cares about each person he interacts with. It teaches me. Selah.
Today, I hope you feel seen, heard and loved by someone along the journey. I hope your relationships are life-giving and deep. And I hope your business is successful, in all the right ways.
