🎉 Exciting Update in Wisconsin Family Law! 🎉

On October 31, Governor Evers signed a bill that allows divorces in Wisconsin to be granted without a final hearing, provided that both parties are represented by counsel or have worked with an attorney-mediator. This marks an important step toward streamlining the divorce process for couples who have already reached an agreement.

Each county will now determine how to incorporate this change into its judicial procedures, so I’ll be watching closely to see how implementation varies across the areas I practice. This development reflects a growing focus on efficiency, accessibility, and reducing unnecessary court appearances in family law.

Relating to: an optional final hearing by affidavit for the dissolution of a marriage.
