One of ours at the podium with something worth saying, and every table paying attention. Whether it is a project update, a community partner report, or a call to action on holiday families, we know what to do when a sister has the floor. We listen. Then we get to work.

This is the sound of women in Lake Elsinore actually listening to each other.

You do not get this at a work meeting. You do not get this at a school pickup. You do not really get this at Thanksgiving.

You get it once a month at the Elsinore Woman's Club, when President Darlene Wharton takes the podium and a room full of women who have been talking over each other for the last hour suddenly go quiet, because somebody is about to say something worth hearing.

Committee reports. Volunteer sign-ups. Announcements about our 120th Anniversary Celebration in October. What Dianne Johnson is bringing into elementary schools this month. Who is teaching Stretch and Flow at the clubhouse. What Debbie Kaatz needs help with next week.

Real business. Real service. Run entirely by women, entirely for the good of Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Wildomar and Temecula.

Birthdays deserve a real celebration.

Our historic Lake Elsinore clubhouse holds milestone birthdays the way they should be held. 60th. 70th. 80th. 90th. The kind of year that calls for the whole family in one room.

Multi-generation welcome. Full kitchen for catering. Easy parking for grandkids and grandparents.

Somewhere in Lake Elsinore there is a mother and a daughter who have been trying to find something to do together that neither of them has to organize.

Not another restaurant. Not another movie. Not another Sunday visit that fills the hour and then ends.

The mother wants time with her daughter that feels like something. The daughter wants to do something for her mother that gets her out of the house without either of them making a big deal out of it.

We built the Elsinore Woman's Club for both of them.

Meet Teresa Amsler and her mother, sitting at the same table on a Thursday morning. Same lunch. Same room. Same view. One monthly meeting where two generations of women in their family get to be somewhere together without anyone needing to host.

If you have a mother, a daughter, a mother-in-law, a stepdaughter, or the woman who raised you, you already know that shared time gets harder every year. This is one hour a month where it gets easier.

Heads bent, agendas open.

Somewhere in this photo is a woman signing up for a committee. Another one taking notes for a friend who could not make it. A third scribbling a reminder about the holiday families collection. This is what participation actually looks like from row two.

You saw the post two weeks ago about Lynda Krisko's Stretch and Flow class.

You thought about signing up. Maybe you told yourself you would do it Sunday. Maybe you closed the app and it slid off your list the way things do at this age.

Class starts tomorrow morning at 10:15.

There are still a few spots left, and you already know why you were interested. Balance work so the curb stops making you nervous. Flexibility so getting out of the car stops being a moment. A quiet forty-five minutes with other women in Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Wildomar and Temecula who are also done pretending their body is going to sort itself out.

Five classes. Forty-five dollars. Nine dollars a session. The series starts September 15 at 10:15 AM.

Lynda has taught women in this community for years. She meets your body where it is today, not where it was in your 30s. Members and non-members are both welcome.
