This! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
I’ve been following Caitlin Clark’s career for years. And alongside all the media attention, praise, and inevitable scrutiny that comes with that level of success, I’ve noticed something else; a pattern.
And while this pattern may feel more visible in highly competitive arenas like professional sports, it’s not confined there.
It shows up everywhere. Among athletes, on social media amongst influencer of all types, the office, and yes, right here in our outdoors community. And the worst part? As women, this seems to be where WE struggle more… but no one wants to talk about it.
It forces us to examine ourselves and our intentions. And that’s uncomfortable.
But this is a topic I’ve been highly passionate about, and having the tough conversations are a necessary part of being better leaders and calls for change.
Women who rise to the top, who break barriers and set new standards, often become targets instead of examples to learn from. Too often, we fall into the trap of gatekeeping rather than reaching back to lift up the next woman coming behind us. As if celebrating her somehow diminishes our own accomplishments.
Ladies, jealousy is just a distraction that keeps us small. Undermining or dismissing another woman’s success doesn’t make us stronger, it has the opposite effect, and ultimately slows the progress we’re all fighting for.
Imagine what we could collectively achieve if we chose respect over resentment, and collaboration over competition. Let’s be the community that redefines what it means to succeed, grow and thrive, by showing that real power is in lifting each other up.
Let’s be a community of women, who demand that the pattern stops with us.
