In case you didn't know...

Bumblebee jasper isnโ€™t actually jasper. Itโ€™s a rare mix of fibrous calcite, sulfur, realgar, and other volcanic minerals cemented together. ๐ŸŒ‹ It's a vibrant yellow, orange, and black stone that formed from volcanic activity near Mount Papandayan in West Java, Indonesia.

Its eye-catching bands come from layers of minerals deposited by hot, acidic gases escaping through volcanic cracks. The yellow tones are from sulfur, the orange from arsenic sulfides like orpiment, and the black from manganese oxides. ๐Ÿ

This rock only forms in a very specific environment: active hydrothermal vents in volcanoes, which makes its origin incredibly narrow and location-specific. Every piece you see was pulled from this one region in Indonesia, making it geologically rare.
