The Courage to Make the Hard Decisions

The past couple of weeks have reminded me that some of the most important moments in life and leadership happen when there is no easy answer. There have been decisions that weighed heavily on my mind, conversations I knew needed to happen, and choices that required me to put integrity ahead of comfort. Hard decisions rarely come with certainty or applause. They often come with doubt, responsibility, and the realization that someone may be disappointed no matter what you choose. Even so, leadership and personal growth require us to face those moments with courage. Looking back, I am reminded that our character is not built during the easy seasons. It is revealed during the difficult ones....

I Searched for the Book That Would Tell Me the Truth About Midlife

This book was born alongside Lead Anew: Lessons From My Second Season. While I was writing that book, I found myself returning again and again to the quiet reflections, journal entries, and honest questions that were helping me navigate my own season of change. The first book tells the story. This companion book offers the practice. Written for women navigating midlife and all the growth, uncertainty, wisdom, and possibility that come with it, these pages are an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with yourself one day at a time. You are not starting over. You are building upon everything you have learned, survived, and become. Your second season is not about reinvention. It is about coming home to yourself....

I am excited to announce my second book, available now on Amazon:

"Still Becoming: A Daily Guide for Midlife Women, Because Your Second Season Is Your Best One"

There is a tired that sleep does not fix. A loneliness that lives inside a full life. A quiet, persistent sense that the woman you have been performing for decades is not quite the whole of who you are. If you know that feeling — if it arrives most clearly in the still moments before the day begins — this book was written for you. Still Becoming is a 90-day daily companion for women in midlife who are ready to do the honest, unhurried work of becoming more genuinely themselves. Each entry takes five minutes. Each question takes as long as it needs. And each closing blessing — Until next time, may you… — is a small daily act of sending you into the world with something good. Your second season is not something to be endured. It is yours to inhabit. Fully. Honestly. With all of yourself.

I just turned in my final manuscript. 🎉

Lead Anew: Lessons From My Second Season is done.

This book is for the woman who has spent decades being the capable one, the strong one, the one everyone counts on, and who is quietly wondering whether there is anything left that is genuinely hers.

It is for the healthcare leader navigating burnout she has not yet named. The professional who arrived at midlife and found the life she built belonged partly to someone else's definition of success. The woman who is tired in a way that rest alone will not fix.

I wrote the book I needed and could not find.

Thirty-two years with my best friend, two decades of healthcare leadership, and going back to school in my fifties taught me that the second season of a life, built with more honesty than the first, can be the best one yet.

If this sounds like a book you need, or someone you know needs, it will be available for purchase from Amazon on June 1st, 2026. 📖

Where Peace Finds Us Again

In a world that rarely slows down, many of us have forgotten what it feels like to truly exhale. Between work, caregiving, responsibilities, and the constant noise of everyday life, our minds and bodies quietly absorb more stress than we often realize. This week’s reflection explores the healing power of walking in nature and the gentle reset that can happen when we step outside long enough to breathe deeply, think clearly, and reconnect with ourselves again....
