The Missouri Department of Conservation reported that deer hunters in the state harvested 158,712 deer during the November fi****ms season. Running from November 15-25, the 11-day season saw hunters check 90,440 antlered bucks, 12,266 button bucks, and 56,3006 does. In the Lake Area counties, Morgan County led with 1,879 deer harvested, followed by Camden County with 1,831 and Miller County with 1,510. This year's total harvest for the November portion is slightly up from last year's figure of 158,577 deer.

The University of Missouri has announced that Head Football Coach Eliah Drinkwitz has signed a new six-year contract, which will run through the 2031 season. Approved unanimously by the Board of Curators, the deal averages $10.75 million annually, placing him among the top 10 highest-paid coaches in college football. His base salary is set to increase to $10.25 million in 2026, up from $9 million in 2025. In his sixth year with the Tigers, Drinkwitz holds a 45-28 record, which ranks as the fifth-most wins in program history. This includes the 2023 season where Mizzou finished 11-2, highlighted by a Cotton Bowl victory over Ohio State and Drinkwitz earning SEC Coach of the Year honors.

Seven Osage Indians were named to the 2025 Central Missouri Media Class 3 All-District football teams as selected by area media members. First team honors went to seniors Brock Arrowood (running back), Nathan Groll (offensive lineman), Grant Wilson (offensive lineman), Brady Clark (kicker), and Jayden Wilkes (linebacker), along with junior defensive back Hunter Schreimann. Senior defensive lineman Nick Joiner received a second-team selection. Additionally, head coach Shannon Jolley was named coach of the year.

Four Eldon Mustangs were named to the 2025 Central Missouri Media Class 3 All-District football teams as selected by area media members. Senior Drayden DeLong earned second-team honors as both a running back and defensive back, while junior Drew Hinds was recognized as a second-team all-purpose player. Additionally, senior offensive lineman James Phillips and senior linebacker Bryce Berendzen also received second-team selections.

Missouri Tigers sophomore running back Ahmad Hardy has been named a finalist for the 2025 Doak Walker National Running Back Award. He joins Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love and Ole Miss's Kewan Lacy as one of the nation's top three running backs vying for the honor. Hardy currently ranks second nationally with 1,403 rushing yards (6.6 YPC) and fourth nationally with 15 rushing touchdowns, leading all finalists in rushing yardage. His season highlight includes a 300-yard performance against Mississippi State, making him only the sixth player in SEC history to achieve this feat, and he is the third Mizzou running back in four years to be a finalist. The winner of the 2025 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on ESPN on Friday, December 12.

The Cardinals have traded veteran right-hander Sonny Gray to the Red Sox. In return, the Cardinals acquired left-handed prospect Brandon Clarke and right-hander Richard Fitts, while Boston also will receive $20 million to help cover Gray's salary. Gray, a three-time All-Star, waived his no-trade clause to approve the move, having posted a 14-8 record with a 4.28 ERA last season for St. Louis without missing a start.

The 16th annual Lake of the Ozarks Turkey Trot 5K is scheduled for tomorrow morning at Camdenton High School. The event begins with a one-mile fun run at 7:45 a.m., followed by the 5K race at 8:30 a.m. To streamline race day, a packet pickup is available tonight from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Leprechaun's Corner Pub & Package, with additional pickup and on-site registration starting at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow at the high school. All participants will receive a finisher's item, while overall male and female 5K winners will earn a plaque and cash prize, alongside age group awards for various categories from 10 & under to 70 and up. Hosted by FundRuns, all profits generated from this community event will directly benefit the Share the Harvest food pantry and the Camdenton Cross Country team.
