New Missouri State Bears head coach Casey Woods has announced key additions to his coaching staff, naming Mark Cala as offensive coordinator and Jack Curtis as defensive coordinator. Cala brings a strong offensive background, most recently serving as UTEP's offensive coordinator where he guided the Miners to average 348 yards and 28 points per game in 2025. His resume also includes successful stints at TCU, Arkansas, Houston, and FAU, consistently contributing to high-powered offenses and developing quarterbacks like TCU's All-Big 12 performer Josh Hoover. Curtis, an Evangel University alumnus, joins the Bears after three seasons as a defensive analyst at Auburn, helping the 2025 squad finish fourth in the SEC in rushing defense. With 35 years of coaching experience, his career highlights include developing numerous all-conference players and NFL Draft picks at Tulane and Georgia Southern and contributing to Central Missouri's program-best 11-win season in 2010.
