Behind the Desk Spotlight: Tennyson “T.A.” DeGraffenreid

Not many people have lived through horse-drawn wagons, world wars, the invention of televisions, man on the moon, the internet, and smartphones — but Tennyson “T.A.” DeGraffenreid did just that and more.

Born on Valentine’s Day in 1921 near Ulman, Missouri, Tennyson’s 103 years were rich in purpose, humor, and community. From his time in the Army Air Force during WWII to his 33-year career at Bagnell Dam, he helped shape the Lake of the Ozarks long before it became what it is today.

More than his remarkable career, Tennyson was known for his faith, storytelling, and devotion to family — a true Lake pioneer whose legacy continues to inspire.
