Flip&Dip Fishing

Flip&Dip Fishing I flip fish ashore, then dip! Here for a good time, not a long time.

It’s funny how some of the best parts of fishing aren’t even the fish you catch. Sometimes it’s the random conversations, the stories, and learning something new from fellow anglers. Now I’ve got a new side quest: finding out if bass and pickled pike are really as good as they sounded.

Went to Lake Mendota for some evening fishing, not expecting much with all the algae around. Started off throwing my white chatterbait and landed a solid 2½-pound bass!

Decided to switch things up and try some topwater, and the bite was ON. First cast on a choppo 105, no retrieve, caught another 2½-pounder, then a 1½-pound bass back-to-back. Then, just as I was pulling one out of the water, a northern pike came out of nowhere and took a shot at it!

Safe to say it's time to start bringing out the topwater more often. 🎣🔥

🎣 Was fishing over at Tenney and had a bluegill with a big appetite absolutely smoke a 5-inch swimbait! 🤣

Small fish with big dreams. Sometimes the little guys have the most confidence in the lake.

After work flip today since I was too busy to get a lunch flip in. The bite was slow, and I was just about ready to switch lures when this happened! 🎣

This smallmouth absolutely crushed a 6-inch Cave Hog from Bait Cave Customs. It was almost 3 pounds and put up an incredible fight. Just goes to show that one cast can completely change a slow day on the water.

Hopefully I see a lot more smallies like this this season—and even bigger ones! 🐟🔥

Spent a little time fishing Saturday and came across this Northern Water Snake stretched out on a log just soaking up the sun. 🐍 I’ve been seeing these a lot more often lately, but this was by far the longest one I’ve run into. It wasn’t bothered by anything—just laid out there chillin’ and enjoying the day. Nature always finds a way to make a fishing trip interesting, even when the fish aren’t cooperating. 🎣
