Cantilevers: Journal of the Arts is a nationally-recognized, student-run magazine at Florida Southern College. We aim to publish the best short fiction and creative nonfiction, poetry, and visual art from Polk County artists. Our annual submission period runs from October 15 to December 15.
Submission Guidelines. To submit to Cantilevers, review our genre-specific guidelines and email your work to [email protected]. Please note that any submissions that do not adhere to our guidelines may not be considered by our staff.
Fiction & Creative Nonfiction. One piece of original fiction or nonfiction up to 10 double-spaced pages. Include your name and page numbers in the top-right corner of each page.
Poetry. Up to three poems, totaling no more than 10 double-spaced pages. Include your name and page numbers in the top-right corner of each page. Pieces that will be difficult to reproduce in the magazine––e.g., shape poems––are at a serious disadvantage.
Visual Art. Up to three paintings, drawings, photographs, or graphic-design pieces submitted as a clear, high-quality JPEG. Include your title, name, and medium in the email.
