Friends and readers of Lakeland Currents, I wanted to share a personal update with you. Beginning September 1, I will no longer be involved in writing articles or sharing news for Lakeland Currents.

More than 10 years ago, I created an online platform to transition Lakeland Currents into the digital world after Jim and Sherrye Willis did an incredible job publishing Currents as a quarterly newsletter. Since making that move to lakelandcurrents.com and our social media platforms, Lakeland Currents has generated more than 18 million combined impressions and views!

Over four years ago, we sold Lakeland Currents to MediaWize, a New Jersey-based company, so I could devote more of my time to my primary business, MarketVex, and my family. As part of the sale, MediaWize asked if I could remain involved in helping operate Currents and continue sharing the news and stories of Lakeland to which I agreed.

MediaWize has been a great partner, and together we have watched Lakeland Currents continue to grow. However, I will no longer be involved in the day-to-day operation of Lakeland Currents moving forward.

Lakeland Currents isn't going anywhere. It will continue to operate, I simply won't be part of the team behind the scenes writing and sharing the local news anymore. Please feel free to reach out to Chris Bates at [email protected] for any inquiries.
