Today is National Wildlife Day! So what better time to post about the amazing time we had at Wildlife Prairie Park in Hanna City IL last summer.
If you’re looking for a relaxing and outdoorsy quick getaway, this place is it! There is so much to explore within Wildlife Prairie Park. From the glorified nature center in the Visitor’s Center, to the reptile house, to the many trails to explore, to the wildlife animals throughout the park, to the train that takes you on a couple routes, and the special events, nature walks, and adventure tours… you are bound to find fun things to do for everyone!
You can easily visit Wildlife Prairie Park for just the day, but you can also easily stretch out to 1 or 2 days. We decided to make a long weekend of it, and stayed a couple of nights. They have some really unique lodging options, including staying in a train car or in a grain bin! We would have loved to stay in one of those, but needed something a little bigger, so we opted to stay in one of their cabins. We were pleasantly surprised by how large and spacious it was and would absolutely stay there again.
If you wanted to leave the park for a bit, it is conveniently located near Peoria, where there are a lot of fun options to do there also. We took a quick trip to a Peoria Zoo during our stay, and actually also went to Miller Park Zoo on our way home.
