We have a few copies left of the newest release in our artist’s series: Denis Tiani.

http://www.centipedepress.com/art/denistiani.html

Tiani’s legendary work, which includes hundreds of idiosyncratic, highly individual artworks published in Witchcraft & Sorcery, Nyctalops, Weirdbook, Whispers and other seminal small press publications, is now collected for the first time in a well-printed, 350+ page book, including a generous selection of his color artworks and sculptures. There is a fine introduction by Jason Van Hollander, and a warm tribute afterword by Harry O. Morris.

This edition is similar in size to our other books in the Artists Series. It is cloth bound with stamping on the spine and front, four-color endpapers, heavy matte art stock, and a handsome dustjacket. The book also has head and tail bands and a ribbon marker. Each copy is signed by Denis Tiani and Jason Van Hollander.

We have some unsigned copies of Fritz Leiber’s Swords Against Death and Swords in the Midst available:

http://www.centipedepress.com/horror/fgm2unsigned.html

http://www.centipedepress.com/fantasy/fgm3unsigned.html

In the annals of heroic fantasy one epic tale stands head and shoulders above the rest, spanning sixty years in the telling, the saga of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser has captivated fans ever since Fritz Leiber’s first tale of the duo appeared in the August, 1939 issue of Unknown. The story of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser is among the most enduring in modern fantasy, and Centipede Press is releasing the first of what will be the definitive eight-volume set comprising not only all of the stories by Fritz Leiber (and his friend Harry Fischer), but also the brilliant epilogue to the series, Swords Against the Shadowland by Robin Wayne Bailey.

Swords Against Death features an introduction by Steve Rasnic Tem and artwork by Dominick Saponaro. It features five interior illustrations, a full-color frontispiece, full color wraparound dustjacket, and custom illustrated endpapers. The book includes all of the stories that make up Swords Against Death along with Fritz Leiber’s introduction to Bazaar of the Bizarre, some movie notes by Fritz Leiber, and a rare bonus essay, “Lankhmar and Lands Around.”

Swords in the Midst includes a rare photograph of Fritz Leiber, plus Leiber’s introduction from Night’s Black Agents, an essay by Fritz Leiber called “H.P. Lovecraft meets Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser,” some story fragments and a “Few Fafhrd & Gray Mouser Firsts,” and H.P. Lovecraft’s letters to Fritz Leiber regarding “Adept’s Gambit.” It features an introduction by Tim Powers and artwork by Grant Griffin, including six color interior illustrations, a full-color frontispiece, full color wraparound dustjacket, and custom illustrated endpapers, and all of the stories that make up Swords in the Midst.

Centipede Press is pleased to present Bird Parade, a new graphic novel by Patrick Loehr, with an introduction by Nathan Ballingrud. The richly illustrated volume is awash in muted textures of brown and gray, a visually appropriate setting for this dark, thought provoking, and timely tale.

http://www.centipedepress.com/art/birdparade.html

Set in rural Colorado, the story exposes a somber world wherein notions of strength and maturity are deeply intertwined with the mystique of fi****ms and family legend. The young narrator’s eagerness to grow up — to complete a rite of passage — compels him towards actions that ultimately shatter his childhood.

Patrick Loehr has contributed illustration and design work on several Centipede Press publications, including Blackwater by Michael McDowell. He has written and illustrated two children’s books for HarperCollins Publishers.

This is the first publication of Bird Parade. Aside from the author’s promotional copies, it has never before been published. It is signed by both Patrick Loehr and Nathan Ballingrud and printed entirely on on Mohawk Superfine paper.
