From Sound in Wray — crafted from wagon wheels and tuned pipes — to the interactive Cloud Busters in Fraser and the whimsical Horton Hears a Moo in Joes, her sculptures invite communities to play, listen, and connect. 🌟

For sculptor Janene DiRico-Cable, art is meant to be touched. Her marble-and-metal piece Zen encourages passersby to pause, run their hands along its smooth curves, and feel a sense of calm ✨

Her vibrant Puppy Love and Cat Fish in Buena Vista and her elegant horse Boundless in Fruita highlight her playful yet powerful range. From whimsical animals to equestrian elegance, Janene’s work adds beauty and heart to Colorado communities 🐶🐱🐴

A Majestic Icon. A Lasting Message. 🏞️

Kahuna wasn’t just any elk — he was the elk. Towering antlers, calm presence, and a thunderous bugle that drew tourists and photographers from around the world. Today, a dedicated committee is bringing Kahuna’s legacy to life through educational exhibits and a memorial wildlife safety park.

What's their mission? To celebrate this majestic creature while teaching visitors how to respect and protect Colorado’s wild spaces. 🤍 Read the full article at coloradocountrylife.coop

🌟DEADLINE APPROACHING🌟

As we think ahead to the season of shorter days and twinkling lights, we’d like to make space to appreciate the people who bring light into our lives. 🌟

Has someone helped you through a hard time with a kind word, a warm meal, or just by being there? Maybe it was a friend who made you laugh when you needed it most, a neighbor who stepped in when you were struggling, or a stranger whose simple act of kindness stuck with you. ❤️

We’d love to hear your story for our December 2025 issue. Keep it short and heartfelt — we’re looking for the everyday stories that remind us how powerful a little light can be. The deadline to share your story is September 20. To share your story, visit: https://coloradocountrylife.coop/light-in-the-dark/

“The Big Kahuna” is Back — in Bronze 🦌

He captivated crowds, reigned over Moraine Park, and became one of the most photographed elk in the world. Now, Kahuna the elk is inspiring a new kind of legacy — one that promotes wildlife safety through public art and education.

A life-sized bronze statue and memorial park are underway in Estes Park to honor his legacy and remind visitors what a safe 75 feet really looks like. Read the full article at coloradocountrylife.coop
