ለአቡነ ሊባኖስ ዘመጣዕ የተሰጣቸው ቃል ኪዳን (በአማርኛና በልሳነ እንግሊዝ - እንግልጣር)
"በዚህችም ዕለት [ጥር 3] ዳግመኛ የከበረ አባት የአባ ሊባኖስ የዕረፍቱ መታሰቢያ ነው ይኸውም መጣዕ ነው።" - ስንክሳር ዘጥር 3 ቁጥር 11
👉"የጻድቅ መታሰቢያ ለበረከት ነው" ምሳ. 10፥7
“እግዚአብሔርም ‘ወዳጄ ሊባኖስ ሆይ እውነት እልሃለሁ አንተ ስለእኔ ፍቅር ብለህ የዚህችን ዓለም ተድላ ደስታ ንቀሃልና የአባትህንም መንግሥት እንደ ጉድፍ እንደ ሣር የሙሽርነትህንም ቤት እንደ ሐዘን እንደ ልቅሶ ቆጥረኸዋልና አሁንም ወዳጄ ሊባኖስ ሆይ ስማ ብዙውን ወደኸኛልና የዚህችንም ዓለም ተድላ ደስታዋን ሁሉ ንቀሃልና እኔም ከቅዱሳን ሁሉ ይልቅ ዕጥፍ ድርብ አድርጌ እወድሃለሁ፤ የገድልህን መጽሐፍ የጻፈ ያጻፈ ያነበበ የተረጎመ በንጹሕም ልብ የሰማ በቤተ ክርስቲያንህም ውስጥ የተቀበረ ዳግመኛም መታሰቢያህን ያደረገና ስምህን የጠራ በስምህም የተራበውን ያጠገበ በጸሎትህም የታመነ ቸርነቴ ከእሱ አይርቅም፤ በሞተም ጊዜ የብርሃን መላእክት በዕልልታ ይቀበሉታል በሰማያት ባለ በአባቴ መንግሥትም ከእናቴ ከማርያም ጋር ከብሮ ገኖ ይኖራል የእሳትንም ባሕር አሻግረዋለሁ ያለ ጥርጥር አንተን የታመነ ረሃብም ቢሆን ወይም ሰውን ሁሉ የሚጎዳ ቸነፈር በሽታ ሁሉ ጥፋትም ቢሆን ሃዘንና ትካዜም ቢሆን ወደ እሱ አይቀርብም ዕረፍትን እንዲያገኝ እኔ አጽናናዋለሁ እንጂ’ አለው።
ይህንም ብሎት እስከ ሦስት እስከ ሰባት ጊዜ የምሕረት ቃል ኪዳን ሰጠው።”
(ጻድቁ የነበሩት በዘመነ አክሱም በ5ኛውና 6ኛው መቶ ክፍለ ዘመን ሲሆን ከሮም ግዛት ሙሽርነትን ትተው በግብጽ ከአባ ጳኩሚስ ተምረው መንኩሰው ወደ ኢትዮጵያ መጥተዋል፣ በስማቸው አጼ ገብረ መስቀል ኋላም ቅዱስ ላሊበላ አብያተ ክርስቲያናትን አንጸውላቸዋል። ደብረ ሊባኖስ ገዳምም ለ40 ዓመታት የተጋደሉበት ቦታ ስለሆነ በስማቸው ይጠራል። በእንጦጦ ኪዳነ ምሕረትም ጸልየዋል።)

The Covenant Given to Abba Libanos (Abba Metta)

“And God spake, saying, ‘O My well-beloved Libanos, verily I say unto thee: forasmuch as thou hast forsaken the joys and pleasures of this world; forasmuch as thou didst cast away thy father’s throne as dust and withered grass; forasmuch as thou hast accounted thy bridal chamber a house of mourning and of lamentation; and once again hear Me, O My beloved Libanos, because thou hast loved Me exceedingly, and hast despised the delights and gladness of this present world—therefore do I love thee twofold above all the saints.
My forgiveness shall not depart from him that writeth thine account, nor from him that causeth it to be written, nor from him that readeth it, nor from him that translateth it, nor from him that heareth it with a pure heart; nor from him that is buried within thy church; nor from him that keepeth thy feast and calleth upon thy name, or feedeth the hungry in thy name; nor from him that believeth in thy name.
And when he departeth hence, angels of light shall receive him with cries of rejoicing, and he shall abide in glory within the Kingdom of My Father in heaven, together with My mother Mary. I shall aid him in crossing the river of fire. And unto the man that believeth in thee without wavering, neither hunger, nor pestilence that consumeth all men, nor distraction, nor sorrow, nor heaviness of heart shall draw nigh unto him; but rather, that he may find rest, I shall comfort him.’
And having thus spoken, He granted unto him a covenant, three times and yet seven.”
The Saint lived in the 5th and 6th century in the Axumite Era. He left his nuptial chamber for Christ’s sake and went to the monastery of Abba Pachomius. Later, after being tonsured a monk, he came to Ethiopia and after his departure Emperor Gebre Mesqel and later Emperor St. Lalibela’s wife Empress St. Mesqel Kibra have built him churches. Debre Libanos Monastery received its name because the Saint ministered and struggled there for 40 years. He also prayed at what is now the Monastery of Kidane Miheret in the northern part of Addis Ababa.
The Saint departed on Tir 3 (January 11) in Eritrea and his nativity is held on Hamle 3 (July 10).
