Statement from the Lancaster County School District regarding a Wednesday social media post by a district employee...

The Lancaster County School District has received a complaint regarding a recent social media post by an employee. The employee has been placed on administrative
leave while the matter is reviewed in accordance with board policy, established procedures, and legal requirements. Interim steps consistent with district protocol have
been taken, including temporary measures to ensure due process and maintain normal school operations.
Student and staff safety remains our highest priority. We want to reassure our community that there has been no noticeable disruption to school operations, nor a
noticeable increase in student absenteeism as a result of this matter. We want to a Although we are not aware of any threats to students or staff related to this situation, we encourage anyone with concerns about safety or the learning environment to report them immediately.
The District does not comment on individual personnel matters. However, we recognize the importance of transparency and remain committed to keeping the community informed, as appropriate, while also protecting the rights and legal safeguards afforded to all employees.

UPDATE: Today, Sept. 12, a jury in Lancaster County found Bryan Terrell Mitchell guilty of murder and other weapons charges in the shooting of Rodney Cunningham at Lancaster Motor Speedway on August 27, 2022. A motion for a new trial by Mitchell's defense attorney was denied. Mitchell was sentenced to 30 years for murder, five years for weapons charge with credit for 1,111 days time served. Those sentences will run consecutively.
