To present their new brand, Rite Aid Healthy Futures worked with Aumen Film Co to craft this short film about a young woman lifting up the community that supported her as a child. Natalie's journey illustrates not only the harsh realities that communities and individuals face across the country, but the spirit of uplifting our neighborhoods together.

FATHER'S DAY EDITION
Story Behind the Song, Episode #7: Evidence of Pain
https://loom.ly/EapAJSI
"Open the window and let in the rain. Rip out the pages that whisper her name. Run from the echoes and take all the blame. Try to conceal all the evidence of pain."
In the years after my parents split up, I watched my dad struggle to rebuild his life. He was resilient, but heartbroken, trying to move forward while still facing backward. He raced through his days, collecting remnants of hope: new friendships, new levels of closeness with his children, funny stories, excuses to travel, new reflections on the past. His determination to be okay, to keep plowing ahead, was admirable - and sometimes annoying.
When I wrote this song, I was picturing his quiet moments - walking into an empty house at end of a day of running, and finding the pain waiting for him there in the darkness. I thought about all the different ways that we humans carry our pain - how and where we hide it from ourselves and others, how and when we let it out, let it breathe, and let it go.
"Each time you walk in the door, she leaves you again / the drip of the empty sink, the way the house lights bend"
I am particularly grateful to the musical team that helped this song evolve from a simple piano composition into a lush, layered rock ballad. I think it's one of Chad Kinsey's finest masterpieces as a producer. And bringing in composer Richard Belcastro to create a richly layered horn arrangement was great idea ground zero. I fell in love with Mark Burke 's guitar part the second he played it. And it's always such an honor to sing with long-time friend and incomparable vocal talent Keith Wilson (Movies With Heroes)
