Where do you need more structure in your career right now?

Is it your materials, audition technique, communication, or understanding how the business works?

There is no wrong answer. Different stages require different kinds of support, and knowing the specific area that is slowing you down is a useful place to start.

Tell us one professional area where you would like more practical guidance. Your response will help us understand what education would be most useful to our community.

Talent should understand what they are agreeing to when a project involves digital likeness, synthetic media, or reuse of a performance.

Before signing, ask:
• What exactly is being created?
• Where will it be used?
• How long does consent last?
• Who controls approval?
• How are you being compensated?

The exact language matters. Do not rely on a summary or assume every agreement uses the same terms. Review the rights language with your union representative or a qualified entertainment attorney before signing.

This post is educational only and is not legal advice.

Save this checklist and get qualified advice before signing rights language.

Taking an acting or modeling class can strengthen your craft. Preparing to work also requires professional systems around that craft: current materials, clear communication, careful reading, realistic availability, and the ability to follow instructions under pressure.

TAP is designed to help performers build a stronger industry foundation across those areas. Current TAP dates are not confirmed.

DM TAP for upcoming program details or join the TAP priority list.

Your most valuable skill may not be acting or modeling.

Commercial and digital projects often need people who can do something specific and believable: speaking another language, demonstrating a sport, teaching, cooking, working with tools, playing music, or understanding technology.

Those real-world skills can help define a clearer type and a more useful performer. When you submit to I.T.S., do not list only your performance experience. Include the skills, certifications, and experiences you can genuinely perform and discuss professionally.

Your real life may be part of your marketability!

Here's what happened behind the scenes this week on our talent desk. We reviewed hundreds of submissions, and a few things immediately separated the talent who got instant attention from the ones who got lost in the queue. One submission stood out because the talent replied to our initial message within minutes and had their current reel updated and properly formatted. In contrast, we spent hours chasing down slow replies, dealing with compressed video files, and looking at headshots that were several years old. Casting directors and agents work fast, and your materials are often reviewed in seconds. When your files are ready to go and your communication is prompt, it signals that you understand how the industry operates. Professionalism isn't just about your talent on camera; it is about how easy you are to work with from the very first interaction. That reliability is what gets you seen and booked first. What is one thing you are updating on your portfolio this week? Let us know below.

A casting director recently told me that the biggest misconception talent have is thinking casting is only looking for perfection. After years in this industry, I can tell you that in 2026, decision-makers are prioritizing something entirely different. Flashy reels and flawless portfolios will always catch an initial glance, but reliability is what actually books repeat work. Casting directors want talent who communicate clearly, arrive prepared, take direction instantly on set, and update their materials regularly. They need professionals they can trust with clients and tight production schedules. Coachability and professionalism outweigh perfection every single time in high-stakes environments. At I.T.S. Models and Talent, we vet and train our roster specifically for these real-world industry demands. If you are an actor or model ready to elevate your career with representation that values industry reality over hype, submit your portfolio on our website today.

Here's something actors misunderstand: talent alone doesn't build a sustainable career. Having raw ability is just the starting line in the entertainment and modeling industries. Over the years coaching talent at I.T.S. Models & Talent, I've seen gifted performers struggle simply because they lacked a structured roadmap. That is why we designed the Talent Advantage Program around four essential pillars. First, Industry fundamentals that teach you how the business actually operates behind the scenes. Second, Branding and materials that ensure your portfolio, headshots, and reels meet competitive agency standards. Third, Audition technique that builds confidence and consistency under pressure. Fourth, Career strategy that outlines how to pitch yourself, navigate submissions, and sustain momentum over the long term. While our current August session is already underway, enrollment for our next cohort will be opening soon. Drop a comment below if you want to be notified when application details are released.

Most actors focus on the wrong thing when they look at a casting breakdown. When a new project drops, the instinct is often to check the line count or the pay rate immediately. Experienced agents know you need a smarter system. That is why we use the three-read method for every breakdown that crosses our desk.
First, read for character essence to understand the core emotional heartbeat of the role before memorizing a single line.
Second, scan for critical logistics including shoot dates, callback locations, and exclusivity clauses to protect your schedule.
Third, look closely for hidden instructions regarding self-tape framing, file naming conventions, or specific wardrobe notes.
Missing a single detail in that final read can get an otherwise great audition tossed out instantly. Treat every breakdown like a roadmap and read it with intention from top to bottom. Save this post for your next audition prep and drop a comment if you want a deeper dive into submission strategies.

This is the first habit I'd fix. Recently, we had a talent submit for a major commercial package as a brunette, only to walk into the audition as a platinum blonde without telling anyone. That mismatch causes immediate friction with casting directors who are reviewing exact photo's and packages. Your look is your brand product, and any unauthorized change: whether it is hair color, a drastic haircut, facial hair, or significant physical updates: breaks trust. Casting relies entirely on the accuracy of what they see on their desks versus who walks through the door. If you make a change, your agent needs to know instantly so your portfolio and current digitals are updated. Don't let an avoidable surprise cost you a booking. Before your next audition, ask yourself: does your submission reflect who you are today?

The industry quietly changed, and self-tapes, Zoom callbacks, and remote virtual chemistry reads are now standard across film and television. Yet many performers are still training in traditional in-person rooms that do not reflect how casting actually happens today. That is why our Talent Advantage Program is built around live online training every Wednesday from 7-9 PM ET over four weeks. This format is entirely intentional, giving you real-time feedback, interactive exercises, and direct practice in front of a camera lens without the friction of commuting. Plus, every session is recorded so you can review your performance, analyze your choices, and track your growth week by week. Training where you audition builds the technical fluency and confidence you need to secure professional bookings.

- Live online sessions held Wednesdays from 7-9 PM ET
- Real-time coaching and interactive on-camera exercises
- Full session recordings available for personal review
