Weah emphasized the sentimental and historical significance of the trophy, describing it as more than just a personal achievement but a symbol of African footballing excellence.

> "My Ballon d’Or isn’t just my greatest achievement in football—it’s the only one in Africa. Even if the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, offers me more than $1 billion for it, I will tell him no! I have told my children never to sell it, even if they go broke.
