I have personally participated in the Cars & Coffee of Wilmington Toy Drive for four years now, and each year I’ve been involved as more than just someone dropping off toys. I’ve watched this event grow and evolve, and I take a lot of pride in the impact it has on our local community. Knowing that the toys we collect — and the funds we raise — stay right here in our area makes every bit of effort worth it.

I have a few special thank-yous to share:

• Dentistry of Hockessin
For the third year in a row, Dentistry of Hockessin has opened its doors to host one of our toy boxes — and once again, they filled it. Thank you to Dr. Garrett Brink and your entire staff for your continued generosity and support year after year.

• Nifty Fifty’s (Newark)
New to the area, Nifty Fifty’s made room in their busy dining room for a donation box and exceeded every expectation we had. Thank you to the staff of Nifty Fifty’s for stepping up in such a big way.

• Cornerstone Martial Arts
Cornerstone holds a special place in my heart. Owned by my lifelong friend Rob, whom I met while volunteering as a firefighter, Cornerstone offers more than a place to learn punching and kicking — it’s a safe, welcoming environment to grow, relax, and challenge yourself. They gladly made space for a donation box and helped ensure the kids at Nemours have a holiday or birthday filled with joy even while away from home.

• Jason’s Nuts
A special thank-you to Jason’s Nuts for donating their new family-friendly tabletop game. The children at Nemours are going to have a blast sliding and knocking each other’s “nuts” around while scoring points. Your generosity will bring them a lot of laughter.

• And finally, Michael Bellina
No thank-you list would be complete without recognizing Michael Bellina — the face of the toy drive and of Cars & Coffee of Wilmington. Michael and his core group of friends spend months preparing before the first post is made or the first toy is donated, ensuring the event runs smoothly year after year. Thank you, Michael, for everything you do.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cornerstone Martial Arts for generously allowing us to place a donation toy box at their location for this year’s Cars & Coffee of Wilmington toy drive. We truly appreciate everyone involved in making this event a success.

We also invite you to participate on Sunday, December 7th, between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. at Nordstrom’s at the Christiana Mall, where the final collection and lineup of all the cars participating in the toy drive will be held.

In addition to the toys that were donated, we are also able to donate a substantial amount of money to Nemours, to be used by the hospital for continually bringing joy to the children.

Maggie's first big adventure. We spent the day Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. The high part of the day was Maggie's first train ride. I thought she would sit and watch the world go by. This tired puppy slept the entire time with her head on my lap. I saw a little of the leaves but spent most of the ride watching her. I am so blessed to have her in my life. She did amazing with the noise and crowds. I am planning on going back to explore on bike as soon as I can talk about one of the most beautiful places in PA to visit.
