FIRST LADY FATIMA MAADA BIO REAFFIRMS AFRICAN UNITY AT STATE BANQUET HONOURING GABON'S PRESIDENTIAL COUPLE
Freetown, Sierra Leone – First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone and President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, yesterday evening joined President His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio at a prestigious state banquet hosted at Chapter One Restaurant in honour of His Excellency General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of the Gabonese Republic, and Her Excellency Mrs. Zita Oligui Nguema, First Lady of Gabon, during their official visit to Sierra Leone.
The elegant state banquet served as a symbol of the enduring friendship, mutual respect, and growing diplomatic ties between Sierra Leone and Gabon, bringing together senior government officials, diplomats, and distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering, First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio underscored the importance of African sisterhood, solidarity, and collective action in advancing peace, sustainable development, and shared prosperity across the continent.
Speaking in her capacity as President of OAFLAD, she reaffirmed the resilience and leadership of African women, calling for stronger collaboration among African nations to address common challenges and unlock greater opportunities for women and girls.
Dr. Fatima Maada Bio also expressed optimism that the partnership between Sierra Leone and Gabon will continue to flourish, fostering stronger cooperation and delivering lasting benefits for the people of both nations.
The state banquet marked another significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Gabon, reflecting the shared vision of both countries for a more united, peaceful, and prosperous Africa.
