Washington Commanders DT Jer’Zhan Newton totaled 9 tackles, 5 QB hits, 3 sacks, and 2 TFL on Christmas Day against the Dallas Cowboys.
Newton is the first player in franchise history with 3 sacks in a game since 2015 (Preston Smith) and joins Phillip Daniels (2005) as just the second player to do so against the Cowboys in franchise history.

“Yeah, he has, I mean, I mentioned it a couple weeks ago, just some of the tough pass rushes he started his career with. So, to see him settle in, not get down, continue to work hard has been good.
And I think the run game stuff has improved, past game stuff has improved, and the game has just slowed down for him. So, this last month I think is really big for his development. Continue to build into the off season and then needs to have a great off season.”
