Zigague Hostages Freed After One Week in Captivity.

Ten hostages who were kidnapped last week following an attack on a Touristique agency bus in Zigague, Far North Region, have been released. They are currently under medical observation at a BIR camp.

The announcement was made by the Governor of the Far North, Midjiyawa Bakary, who also confirmed with regret the death of one of the hostages.

ASAF Cameroon Foundation Has Launched a National Writing Competition for Children.

The ASAF Cameroon Foundation, created by philanthropist Eran Moas, has announced the launch of its first-ever national writing competition for children aged 8 to 16 years. The initiative is spearheaded by the foundation’s Ambassador, Djaïli Amadou Amal, award-winning author and recipient of the prestigious 2020 Goncourt des Lycéens Prize.

The competition which is themed “Telling Tomorrow”, seeks to spark creativity among young Cameroonians while offering them a platform to share their dreams, visions, and hopes for the future. Participants are encouraged to submit stories, poems, tales, or personal reflections related to the theme. Entries must be submitted by August 31, 2025, either in person or via email at [email protected].

Winners will be announced in early September and will receive one of five major prizes, including laptops, tablets, school uniforms, books, financial support, and other school kits. Beyond the prizes, the initiative emphasizes the transformative power of creative writing, which enhances reading, language proficiency, critical thinking, imagination, and self-expression.

Elecam Imposes Standard Poster Size for Presidential Campaigns to all Candidates.

Just like the SDF, Issa Tchiroma’s petition against the UDC has been rejected.

The Constitutional Council declared the petition filed by the FSNC party inadmissible.

Issa Tchiroma Bakary, leader of the FSNC, had accused the UDC of Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya of adopting colors, logos, and symbols that were too similar to those of his party.

However, during its first hearings chaired by Council President Clément Atangana, the Constitutional Council dismissed the complaint.

What is the SDF’s Crime?

The Labour Party is being attacked left and right by people whose agenda remains unclear. A presidential candidate takes the colors of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), the party raises a complaint, yet somehow the thief is portrayed as the victim while the SDF is painted as the culprit.

For a long time, the SDF has minded its own business. You have never seen Chairman Joshua Osih attack another opposition party, yet they keep coming for him.

They went to Foumban, staged a fake coalition just to discredit the SDF and confuse Cameroonians. Tell me, what came out of those coalition meetings? Nothing—just distraction.

Joshua Osih foresaw this. He warned that fake alliances would be created simply to divert attention. And now, symbols long identified with the SDF are being handed to another candidate, clearly serving a hidden agenda.

To those attacking and insulting Chairman Osih, I ask: How will a grandmother or an illiterate voter be able to tell the difference between the SDF’s ballot paper and that of Serge Espoir Matomba? It is obvious Serge Espoir did this deliberately—but many refuse to accept the truth because they have been misled.

Let us remember:

Since 2018, Joshua Osih is the only candidate who has toured the national territory at least twice, engaging directly with citizens, even in crisis-hit regions.

He is the only candidate who has not opened a fundraiser asking Cameroonians to finance his campaign—while all the others have.

He has consistently called for the Anglophone crisis to be debated in Parliament, but the regime turned a deaf ear.

So I ask again: What crime has Joshua Osih committed?

At a time when he has revived the SDF at the grassroots, instead of young people—especially Anglophones—joining and supporting him, they are insulting their own. Yet across the Mungo, you see others defending their candidates with loyalty. Even Issa Tchiroma, once an instrument of the regime, is now considered a favorite. I can only laugh.

Anglophones, wake up! Do not abandon your own. It is sad that those fighting hardest for the SDF today mostly come from the West Region, while Anglophones remain divided.

I beg you, dear brothers and sisters: stand with your own. Do not leave Joshua Osih alone. 🥹

The Constitutional Council has ruled in favor of Serge Espoir Matomba in his dispute with Joshua Osih.

As a result, Matomba will appear on the ballot with the raised fist symbol and the red color in the upcoming presidential election.

Yaoundé: 16-Year-Old Girl Dies After she was poisoned with Bread and Chocolate.

A tragic incident has shaken the Manguier neighborhood in Yaoundé following the death of 16-year-old Elodie Mvondo Ekotto, reportedly poisoned with chocolate bread.

According to preliminary investigations relayed by Vision 4, Elodie had fled her family home due to alleged mistreatment from her stepmother while her father was away on mission. Seeking refuge, she went to the home of a young man, Safira Ramadan, who allegedly laced the food with poison, intending to sedate her in order to assault her.

The teenager collapsed and died shortly after consuming the bread. In panic, the suspect allegedly sought help from relatives to dispose of the body. Authorities, already alerted about Elodie’s disappearance, arrested those involved.
