Langdon residents - please be mindful of where your kids are with all the road construction going on!

Our crew had a safety meeting this morning and our operators all voiced the same concern… there have been a lot of unsupervised kids biking/walking way too close to where they are working. They are all so nervous about hitting a child (or anyone).

Our paving operator also called me last week to tell me that a child biked right behind the paver as they were laying asphalt. Asphalt is around 300 degrees when being laid down…far too hot to be driven over until it’s had time to be rolled and cool.

Please continue to have conversations with your kids about how important it is to stay a safe distance away from any construction equipment, trucks, and hot asphalt. They need to know that equipment has low visibility (hard to see when maneuvering, backing up, etc.). Large trucks and equipment are heavy and cannot slam on their brakes if someone pulls out in front of them. If you walk or drive on fresh asphalt, burns are very likely. All of this should be explained to your children (over and over again).

If you see someone being unsafe, please say something.

The last thing we want is for anyone to get hurt (or worse). We are doing what we can to be safe, please do your part. It is all of our responsibility to keep everyone safe. Thank you!

Due to recent rainfall, multiple trails at Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area are temporarily CLOSED

Open Trails:
- Trapper's Ridge
- Lady Slipper Loop (non-motorized)
- Lady Slipper Loop Extension (non-motorized)

Closed Trails (for now):
- Three Sisters
- Leghold Loop
- Fisher's Descent
- Whitetail Alley
- Elk Spoor

Please respect all signage and trail closures to help preserve the area and ensure safety for yourself and others.
