YouTube monetization is changing in 2027 — and creators need to know what’s coming.
YouTube has announced major changes to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), including an increase in the watch-hour requirement for new applicants from 4,000 to 8,000 qualified watch hours.
The requirements for creators trying to qualify through YouTube Shorts are also changing.
📌 In this video, I explain:
• The new 8,000 watch-hour requirement
• When the new YouTube monetization rules start
• What happens to the current 4,000-hour requirement
• Changes affecting YouTube Shorts creators
• What the changes mean for already-monetized channels
• Why creators who aren't monetized yet should pay attention now
• Important YPP dates and deadlines for 2027
If you're currently building a YouTube channel and working toward monetization, this is an update you definitely need to understand.
