The Trump administration's Department of Education accused 45 universities of racial discrimination for partnering with The Ph.D. Project, which promotes diversity in business education.

This follows a previous directive threatening to cut federal funding for schools with diversity programs.

The National Education Association and ACLU have filed lawsuits opposing the directive, calling it an attack on academic freedom and inclusive learning environments.

LOLFM - Complete Character Descriptions

Main Characters

Rishawn (47)
A middle-aged Black man, husband to Lili, and father to Marcel and Tiana. A dedicated farmer and vendor, often overwhelmed but always hustling. Relies on charm, wit, and an ability to talk his way through difficult customers (especially Karens). Values family but struggles with his kids' disengagement from farm life. Knows how to finesse a sale, even if it means making up elaborate backstories about his produce.

Lili (39)
Rishawn’s wife, a former urbanite turned reluctant farmer. Prefers to let Rishawn handle the chaos, offering support only when necessary. Enjoys the quiet moments away from the market madness. Savvy and aware, often the one with the sharpest observations.

Marcel (16)
Rishawn’s son, the embodiment of teenage ennui. Always on his phone, detached, and uninterested in farm work. Occasionally steps up but only under duress. Overprotective of his younger sister, Tiana.

Tiana (15)
Rishawn’s daughter, social and engaged in her own world. More interested in texting than farm life, but still capable when needed. Has a flirtation with a boy at the market, much to Marcel’s dismay. Knows how to balance charm and sass when dealing with her dad.

Chelsea
A confident, no-nonsense vendor specializing in goat products. Fiercely independent, sharp-witted, and quick on the comeback. Holds the market together with her organizational skills and ability to manage vendor drama. Has a secret nerdy side (as evidenced by her *Dune* references). Takes special pleasure in taking down people like the Honey Bear. Good friends with DJ Jackson and respected by other vendors.

New Guy
A middle-aged man starting over in his 40s. Runs a spice stall called *House Atreides Spices* (yes, he gets the *Dune* jokes). Reserved, a little awkward, but surprisingly persuasive when it counts. Can charm even the most intimidating figures (i.e., Honey Bear). No one knows his real name—Chelsea tries to guess, but he never confirms.

Recurring Vendors & Market Figures

DJ Jackson
The market’s DJ and de facto announcer. Provides musical ambiance and live commentary. Knows everyone’s quirks and plays to them.

Atticus (Market Manager)
The well-intentioned but overwhelmed market manager. Stuck in the thankless role of dealing with vendor disputes. Tries to be diplomatic but ultimately lets Chelsea handle the real conflicts.

Madame Amourus
A large, short, flamboyant tarot card reader. Her tent is in constant chaos, often falling apart mid-session. Dramatic, superstitious, and convinced of her own psychic abilities.

Mrs. Vincenzi
Runs a mozzarella stand that doubles as a shrine to her late husband. Talks to his framed picture as though he’s still alive. Emotionally attached to her cheese and very opinionated about it.

Mr. & Mrs. Wong
Elderly couple running a kombucha stall. Perfectionists who take their craft seriously. Have an almost telepathic communication style.

Quinten & Amy (55)
A long-time married couple who have perfected the art of moving in unison. Their morning routine is like a choreographed dance. Always graceful, never rushed, and completely in sync. Known for their ability to navigate market chaos without breaking stride.

Antagonists & Wildcards

Honey Bear
A loud, obnoxious would-be mafioso who wants to control the honey trade. Dresses in a yellow-and-black tracksuit covered in gold chains. Arrives at the market with his two identical goons. Thinks intimidation works, but is ultimately outmaneuvered by Chelsea, Juliette, and New Guy.

The Goon Twins
Honey Bear’s two identical henchmen. Mostly silent but always scowling in unison. Occasionally break character when truly terrified (i.e., Matt’s soap speech).

The Karen Squad
A rotating cast of ultra-demanding, self-righteous customers. Prone to nitpicking, making unreasonable demands, and insisting they know more than the vendors. Can only be tamed by Rishawn or Mary Therese.

Other Vendors & Customers

Adam (57)
A grumpy but lovable British pie vendor. Thinks of himself as the market’s most refined food expert. Constantly bickering with his wife, Jill, in a way that is both combative and affectionate. A perfectionist when it comes to pie presentation. Begrudgingly accepts that Jill is usually right.

Jill (57)
Adam’s wife and business partner, just as stubborn and competitive. Knows how to push Adam’s buttons and does so frequently. Handles the business side while Adam obsesses over the pies. Always one step ahead of her husband in their never-ending battle of wits.

Tony 'Furious' Lavato (45)
A 5’6”, bald, Vin Diesel-type who speaks only when absolutely necessary. A soap vendor with an intimidating presence but a soft core. Runs his business with his son, Matt, who does all the talking. Enjoys watching people fall into Matt’s soap lectures and does nothing to save them. Exists in a permanent state of drinking coffee.

Matt (10)
Tony’s son and a precocious soap enthusiast. Talks at lightning speed and gives never-ending soap dissertations. Terrifies customers by trapping them in long-winded lectures. Knows *everything* about artisanal soap and will make sure you do too. The secret weapon against anyone trying to intimidate his dad.

Juliette
A petite, overly polished, ultra-French vendor who sells macarons. Aesthetic is perfection—everything in her world is pink and Instagram-worthy. Balances her Parisian flair with a hidden Bronx toughness. Her small dog, Fi-Fi, is as fancy (and obnoxious) as she is. Can flip between a sultry French accent and a no-nonsense Bronx growl in an instant. Subtly but effectively strikes fear into anyone who crosses her.

Mary Therese (73)
An elderly, slightly senile egg vendor who finds eggs in the strangest places. Genuinely delightful, with a childlike joy for life. Oblivious to complaints and unbothered by drama. Answers customer demands by showing them her pet duck. Moves at her own pace, still setting up hours after the market opens.

Apparently, black folks are not good for business in 2025.

Apparently, black folks are not good for business in 2025.

Today, D.C. began the 6-8 week process of removing Black Lives Matter Plaza. The Plaza was installed in 2020 and became a landmark of Black survival, resilience, and power. Now, Mayor Muriel Bower is removing the mural amid Congressional pressure and threats of losing essential funding.

Neo-segregationists continue to attack our community–first rolling back DEI programs, and now pushing for the removal of all displays of Black culture. They are even willing to take necessary funding away to do so. But they will not stop there. What they want is to restore a world before civil rights protections for all, where all economic, social, and legal power is in the hands of white, straight men. But as community leaders have stated, Black Lives Matter Plaza may be erased, but our history will always remain.

Color Of Change will continue to fight against neo-segregationists and their regressive agenda. Click the link to join us! https://act.colorofchange.org/sign/stop-funding-neo-segregationists/

By signing the petition, you can take a stand against those who seek to attack our civil rights.

G.D.S. OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

The First Black, Independently Owned, State-of-the-Art Movie Studio and Summer Drive-In in Michigan - Greenwood District Studios, Inc.

LANSING, Mich., November 17, 2020 (Newswire.com) - Local resident and national touring stand-up comedian (youtube.com/watch?v=T20nmw4H0uY&feature=youtu.be), triple Telly Award-winning Filmmaker/Writer/Actor/Director, Amaru has been inspired and encouraged by the world's chaos to find a solution. A solution that creates jobs and economic development within underserved and underrepresented communities and saves his career at the same time.

The industry will make a comeback because, as humans, and especially artists, always adapt. The industry is changing in real-time, including becoming more diverse and more inclusive. Amaru and his team, partnering with a local community organization for the youth called, The Fledge, bring over 100 years of entertainment experience combined, to bring Lansing, Michigan, its first black-owned, state-of-the-art movie studio with sound stages. The studio will also host a summer drive-in starting in the spring for 26 weeks. This studio will be modeled after Tyler Perry's studio bubble that he is successfully pulling off with no issues to date. With a little inspiration from an old boss Master P. and Tyler Perry, Amaru decided to put words into action. A GoFundMe campaign https://gf.me/u/ynp8js and many phone calls later, here they are.

Why Greenwood District Studios? The Greenwood District, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was burned to the ground in 1921 in an area once coined Black Wall Street. Our studio name is dedicated to the lives lost in this massacre. They decided to create a new company, the name seemed to be fitting and gave the studio's existence even more purpose and meaning. They will dedicate the theaters after the businesses that were burned down in the almost forgotten, tragic event. A film by the same name will be produced at the studio. They will build a Black Wall Street replica of the businesses that populated the strip of black excellence in 1921. This will be a tourist attraction for Michigan.
