Thank you to our sponsors, Lake Trust Credit Union and Ohana- Sushi and Bar, and to our host, the Gillespie Group for welcoming us to The Armory — such a beautiful venue!

We enjoyed delicious bagels from Goodfellas Bagel Deli and an exciting update from the Gillespie team on what’s ahead for Lansing, including the redevelopment of the former Food Mission block. Construction along Michigan Avenue is also expected to wrap up by October — great news for our community!

Special thanks to Mayor Andy Schor, our local business leaders, and education partners for sharing valuable updates and insights.

Together, we’re building a stronger Lansing region!

From June 2024 to June 2025, the region added 5,400 new jobs, the second highest job growth in Michigan!

This milestone highlights Lansing’s growing momentum as a center for investment, business expansion, and economic strength.

✨We're excited to share that the Lansing region had the second-highest jobs created numbers in the state between 2024-2025.

Is there still work to be done? Yes. Do we need to aggressively continue efforts to bring more jobs to the region? Yes!

👏These numbers are a step in the right direction but we aren't done.

This week, we're celebrating Public Power Week by highlighting the Lansing Board of Water & Light.

Founded in 1885 when Lansing citizens voted to build a municipal water system, BWL has grown into a vital community-owned utility that today serves over 100,000 electric and 58,000 water customers across the greater Lansing area.

For over a century, BWL has delivered on its mission to provide safe, reliable, and affordable utility services.

A perfect milestone to recognize during Public Power Week, when publicly owned utilities across the U.S. spotlight the value of local control, accountability, and community engagement.

Fun Reminder: BWL is Hosting a REO Education Day, on Friday, October 10th. Get a behind-the-scenes look at how BWL delivers safe, reliable and affordable energy to the greater Lansing area: https://www.facebook.com/events/1118831063006227/
