Tyler Robert Coffey age 22, of Lansing Michigan, passed away at University of Michigan Sparrow Hospital as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
Tyler was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, laughter, and helpfulness. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.
He was born in Lansing in 2003 to Kelly and Randy Coffey. He was raised in Perry, Michigan. Tyler started his education at Shaftsburg Elementary and eventually transferred to and graduated from Haslett High School class of 2021. He was a member of the bowling team and on the Haslett Viking Marching Band Drumline. He was a proud member of BSA Troop 97 and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2021. Scouting taught him many things. With that knowledge he received a national medal of merit for saving his sister's life, as she was choking in 2018. Scouting also introduced him to welding, which he was making his career. Tyler was a longtime member of the Corunna Youth In-line Hockey League. He not only played in the league but he also coached and refereed many games.
Tyler joined the Eastside Rollers youth bowling league where his coach entered him into a Kings and Queens tournament. That is where he met his queen and love of his life. Taryn and Tyler were inseparable after that. The two took over coaching the youth bowling league and at the first practice in 2023 he proposed to her. They were set to marry on September 6, 2025.
Tyler enjoyed hockey, bowling, golf, fishing, hunting, playing cards, concerts and just being with family and friends.
Tyler is survived by the love of his life, his fiance Taryn Wombolt, his parents Randy (Amy) Coffey and Kelly (Daniel Hobbins), sister Abbey Coffey and bonus siblings Ashley (Spencer Reynolds), Taylor Stanley, Hannah Stanley (Alan Goodine), Cody Hobbins (Jamie), Joshua Hobbins, and Danielle Hobbins. Grandparents Robert and Sally Coffey of Haslett and Diane Jakovac of East Lansing. Uncles Ricky Coffey (Tracy) of Jacksonville Florida and Joey Jakovac of Phoenix Arizona. Cousins Jaxen and Lily of Jacksonville Florida. Nephews Gabriel and Nash Goodine of Perry Michigan. Tyler was also known as Uncle Tyler to Winston, who has been a very special person in his life.
