As with the prior order, it limits gatherings and travel and requires all workers who are not necessary to sustain or protect life to stay home. There are additional limitations on stores to reduce foot traffic, slow the spread of the coronavirus, and save lives.

I think it’s wonderful to find such a supportive and resourceful film community! With so much free time, I've been watching more independent films lately and looking to start discussions with other cinephiles. I read Movie Makers' article in which FilmFreeway ranked the best online film festivals and saw the Ashland Independent Film Festival is being hosted on Film Festival Flix. It’s ending this Sunday, but they’ve got some great, relevant featured films this weekend, and their on demand films are also available anytime. I think it’s been a great opportunity to attend a film fest I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. I've also been screening the host site's VOD collections and their curated channels, and I was impressed to see all these Oscar-nominated films and filmmakers all in one place. I’d love to know what you think or what you like here!
Catch up on my radio show, The Magic Hour with Michael McCallum and also my weekly segment on Michigan's Big Show starring Michael Patrick Shiels, "Movie Moment with Michael McCallum" where I highlight a film for you to rent from the safety and comfort of your couch. http://www.rebelpictures.net/radio-shows.html #TheMagicHourwithMichaelMcCallum #MovieMomentwithMichaelMcCallum #RebelPictures #MichiganBusinessNetwork #MichigansBigShowStarringMichaelPatrickShiels #RaduiShow #Podcast #InternetBroadcast #LoveLansing
Friday was another "Movie Moment with Michael McCallum" on Michigan's Big Show with Michael Patrick Shiels! I'm currently making a short film for the 48 Hour Global Film Challenge, but wanted to share my pick for this week. Fruitvale Station is a poignant and extremely powerful film that deals with what it's like to be a young black male in this country and the effects of police violence on one young man and his last day alive. If you think you've "had enough of this subject on TV", think of how it is to be someone of color having to live with it on a daily basis and getting no break from it. This film gives a real human element to that struggle. "The story of Oscar Grant III, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident, who crosses paths with friends, enemies, family, and strangers on the last day of 2008." This film was released in 2013 and brought Michael B. Jordan well earned spotlight as a strong new talent. It was also Ryan Cooglar's feature film debut and he would go on to direct Creed and Black Panther working again with Michael B. Jordan. Since theatres are currently closed, there's no reason we can't have our own movie premiere nights at home for a wonderful film you might not have seen. Last week's pick was the comedy/drama web series, Lucky Jay. Check out Fruitvale Station at the link below and leave a comment/review after you see it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/amzn1.dv.gti.00a9f788-d750-116e-e9fa-f764e566c3f6?ref_=imdbref_m_tt_wbr_pvt_aiv&tag=imdbtag_tt_m_wbr_pvt_aiv-20 Stay safe and See You On the Couch! https://www.spreaker.com/user/5707063/mbs-h1s5-michael-mccallum_4?utm_medium=widget&utm_source=user%3A5707063&utm_term=episode_title #MovieMomentwithMichaelMcCallum #MichigansBigShowwithMichaelPatrickShiels #FruitvaleStation #BlackLivesMatter #MichaelBJordan #RyanCooglar #Poignant #OnlineRentals #Highlighted #WeWillGetThroughThisTogether
Today was another "Movie Moment with Michael McCallum" on Michigan's Big Show with Michael Patrick Shiels! My pick this week is the award-winning web series, Lucky Jay! It was made by my friend and fellow filmmaker, J Harper Philbin. Both Seasons 1 & 2 were made through Grand Valley State University's Summer Film Program. "Comedy-drama about film professors and their students." With all the current political and social stress going on I wanted to highlight something one the lighter side. I try to steer clear of projects I'm a part of for these selections, but had to choose Lucky Jay for it's ability to allow the viewer to laugh. We all need to when we can. Since theatres are currently closed, there's no reason we can't have our own movie premiere nights at home for a wonderful film you might not have seen. Last week's pick was the powerful documentary and Sundance Film Festival Winner, The Sentence. Check out Lucky Jay on YouTube at the link below and leave a comment/review after you see Seasons 1 & 2. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMFot4i1ixfsrXnchvLqNJw Stay tuned and see you next Friday! https://www.spreaker.com/user/5707063/mbs-h1s5-michael-mccallum_3?utm_medium=widget&utm_source=user%3A5707063&utm_term=episode_title #MovieMomentwithMichaelMcCallum #MichigansBigShowwithMichaelPatrickShiels #LuckyJay #WebSeries #HarperPhilbin #GVSU #SummerFilmProgram #YouTube #OnlineRentals #Highlighted #AwardWinning #MittenMovieLove #WeWillGetThroughThisTogether

McCallum A Ride through COVID-19 - A 6-part PodCast batch for the latest episode [#22] of the Magic Hour with Michael McCallum. I welcome a return guest and a change of venue, recording from the Buick, for Episode 22. This time it's my Pops, Award-winning Actor, and Producer, William C. McCallum. A big thank you to Jeffrey C. Mosher (AKA The Cleaner) for working through the chaos to get this new episode to you. https://bit.ly/2ZBWceM #TheMagicHourwithMichaelMcCallum #WilliamCMcCallum #Actor #Producer #Writer #RebelPictures #MichiganBusinessNetwork #InternetBroadcast #Podcast #RadioShow #LoveLansing #FukkCOVID19 #WeWillGetThroughThisTogether #CantStopWontStop
Today was the 2nd "Movie Moment with Michael McCallum" on Michigan's Big Show with Michael Patrick Shiels! My pick this week is the Sundance Film Festival's 2018 Audience Award Winner, The Sentence. It was made by my long time friend and fellow LCC alum, Rudy Valdez. "Filmmaker Rudy Valdez shows the aftermath of his sister Cindy's 15-year sentence for conspiracy charges related to crimes committed by her deceased ex-boyfriend." The film deals with mandatory minimums and the effect on Rudy's family. It's powerful, funny and reminds the viewer that nothing is more important than family. You can find it on HBO, HBO GO, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Since theatres are currently closed, there's no reason we can't have our own movie premiere nights at home for a wonderful film you might not have seen. Last week's pick was a Michigan-made drama about redemption and forgiveness: Sincerely, Brenda. Check out The Sentence on Amazon Prime Video at the link below and leave a comment/review after you see the film. https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/amzn1.dv.gti.2ab334fc-8597-c758-df7c-bc239625e123?ref_=imdbref_m_tt_wbr_pvc_hbo&tag=imdbtag_tt_m_wbr_pvc_hbo-20 Stay tuned and see you next Friday! https://www.spreaker.com/user/5707063/mbs-h1s5-michael-mccallum_2?utm_medium=widget&utm_source=user%3A5707063&utm_term=episode_title&fbclid=IwAR3A3T6UmBEuDFPmed6y9rX0qEW-twTOUZu8I2EdkinTU1UwVIkz5wHWecQ #MovieMomentwithMichaelMcCallum #MichigansBigShowwithMichaelPatrickShiels #TheSentence #HBO #Hulu #AmazonPrime #OnlineRentals #Highlighted #AwardWinning #MittenMovieLove #WeWillGetThroughThisTogether

GREAT NEWS! Rebel Pictures is proud to share our most recent film, Choices, has just been accepted into the MLC Awards in Green Bay, Wisconsin! It will play there in August (hopefully). Choices was made for the Quarantine Filmmaking Competition where it won BEST FILM out of 51 submissions! This is it's 1st selection outside of the competition. I'm really excited to share that I'm going to be doing a weekly segment on Michigan's Big Show! I was on last week talking about being creative and making films during the Quarantine and this morning's show marked the 1st segment of "Movie Moment with Michael McCallum". I'll be highlighting a true indie film that listeners can rent and stream online. Since theatres are currently closed, there's no reason we can't have our own movie premiere nights at home for a wonderful film you might not have seen. This week's pick is a Michigan-made drama about redemption and forgiveness: "Sincerely, Brenda". "After a sudden tragedy, a recovering alcoholic attempts to reconcile with his two estranged sons over a weekend, but the encounter reveals secrets that could destroy their family forever." Writer/Director Kenneth Nelson Jr. has a well-crafted drama with a strong Faith element to it. It's not heavy-handed like a lot of Faith films are and is definitely a must-see. The film stars Rico Bruce Wade, Sean Vaughn and Teri Ann Nelsen in powerful performances. Check out Sincerely, Brenda on Amazon Prime Video at the link below and leave a comment/review after you see the film. Stay tuned for next Friday morning at 6:45am for my next pick! http://bit.ly/SBFilmAmazon https://www.spreaker.com/user/5707063/mbs-h1s5-michael-mccallum_1?fbclid=IwAR0V0oPCMTdTIbDrC_PUVk7IaS9Ilkg1oCCk6cpmxUzXD0Z4BVwsRvSxa1I #MovieMomentwithMichaelMcCallum #MichigansBigShowwithMichaelPatrickShiels #SincerelyBrenda #AmazonPrime #Forgive #MichiganMade #OnlineRentals #Highlighted #AwardWinning #TrueIndie #ShopSmall #ShopLocal #MittenMovieLove #WeWillGetThroughThisTogether
