FRIDAY AUG 21
BAKANTEZ formed in 2022 as the solo electronic project of Chicago based experimental composer Hanna Elliott, former member of the industrial duo HOGG. Over the years of creative development, Hanna has retained consistent themes of libidinal physicality, tactility, and tumultuous introspection. Her project Bakantez sonically consists of electro-acoustic sampling, sequencing, synthesis, and processed vocals reminiscent of sound collage, minimal wave, and noise. Her new work uses home-made objects that translate movement into tools for sonic manipulation.
SARAH LUTKENHAUS is a Chicago based an interdisciplinary artist working across sound, performance, and printed media to explore emotional complexity and the instability of language. Using modular synthesis, field recordings, samples, and vocal improvisation, she builds layered compositions that push speech to the edge of abstraction, where meaning and sense of time fracture. Her work embraces the fleeting experience of liveness, crafting emotionally charged environments that heighten the tension between control and vulnerability. Drawing on archival research and collaborative exchange, she listens for overlooked histories and cultivates community through performances, publications, and collective acts of listening.
SELMA OXOR is a Monterrey-born electroclash/electropunk artist known for her dark, provocative “electro trash goth” sound. Starting as part of a trio in 2007, she launched her solo career with the User 69 EP in 2012, earning praise from Remezcla and MTV Iggy for her raw, synth-driven intensity. She’s performed at SXSW, NRMAL, and other festivals, and continues to push the underground electronic scene forward with her gritty, cyberpunk, all hardware performance style.
MISSION TO THE SUN is a Detroit-based duo (Christopher Samuels and Kirill Slavin) that weaves together post-industrial soundscapes and haunting vocals. Their music explores themes of dystopian isolation, and lost connection — perfect for an immersive, otherworldly live experience in the Motor City.
