Could OCP, Omni Consumer Products, spawn from something like FLOCK Safety Systems? To jar your memory a little, OCP was the Mega Corporation in RoboCop which "OWNED" Detroit.
FOIA filed on LaPorte's FLOCK system. I have a lot of information to shuffle through to see if all my questions were answered. One big question was what safeguards are in place to prevent abuses of the system.
Communities all over the state and country are aligning themselves with FLOCK. In addition, several mega-corporations, such as FedEx have lso joined the observation ranks.
From he information I have received back, the City of LaPorte has eight or eleven cameras according to the documents. They are placed at many of the heavily traveled entrances to the city. The initial cost to the city was about twenty grand, with an annual price of around $27,000.
The best answer on quick scan of the documents on how they will preven abuse, is buried witthin the INDOT agreement where it is required that they use the system ethically. Just looking down south to Clark County, Indiana, we see how far ethics goes in some law enforcement agencies. (Not just Jamie, his wife and daughter, but alegedly LEO employees were also moonlighting for the Noel's private company while also earning pay on the county dime, such as on duty watching a location charged with being protected by Noel's private company.)
There's an agregation clause in the agreement between FLOCK and the city, which appears that FLOCK can do what they want with the data collected without having to ask for permission or redefining the contract
These are my comments for now, without having digested any more than a taste of the information in my control.
The though crossed my mind as to posting the locations of the cameras... But wait, wouldn't that be telling unscrupulous persons how to avoid the tracking? Perhaps, but the cameras are obvious and all one has to do is to plot routes into town and if they see a camera, recalculate, recalculate, recalculate. Hint... try the side streets.
FYI, Michigan City and South Bend... and many other local communities also partner with FLOCK.
