We’re proud to announce our Hidden Gem of the Gem City for December was ! This respected nonprofit organization has been providing services for adults with developmental disabilities and brain injuries here in Albany County since 1963.

Ark Regional Services strives to not only support their clients, but to help them thrive! They have an arts center, offering educational and interactive art courses, as well as an Equestrian center for equine assisted therapies. They are consistently finding innovative ways to help foster lifelong learning, healthy relationships, and new opportunities for growth. Through their residential support, day services and community employment programs, they are truly changing lives here in the Laramie community!

Child safety advocates are urging parents to be cautious of purchasing car seats online, warning that they’ve seen a rise in the number of parents unknowingly buying counterfeit car seats. Though they may appear legitimate (and cheaper) at first glance, these seats don’t meet U.S. safety standards and often lack crucial safety features that protect children in car crashes.

How do you know if a car seat is counterfeit? Experts say the best way to avoid counterfeit car seats is to buy directly from the manufacturer’s website or go to a store — in person — to purchase the seat.

Child Passenger Safety tip of the day:
Once your child outgrows the rear-facing car seat, they are ready to travel in a forward-facing car seat with a harness and tether. Keep your child in a forward-facing car seat until they reach the top height or weight limit allowed by the car seat manufacturer.
