🌳 Want to plant a tree in Laramie this year? Now’s your chance.

Local nonprofit Rooted in Laramie is opening its annual tree sale Friday, March 6 at 8 a.m., offering trees for just $50 each — a deeply discounted price to help grow Laramie’s community forest.

This year’s sale includes a limited selection of six varieties, including Montmorency Cherry, Sensation Maple, Swedish Whitebeam, Toba Hawthorn, Triumph Elm, and Burr Oak.

The trees will be planted across the community by volunteer crews during Planting Day on June 6, and volunteers are welcome to join in — no experience required.

Since 2019, Rooted in Laramie has helped plant more than 450 trees across the city, helping make our neighborhoods greener, cooler, and more beautiful for generations to come.

🌱 Trees are limited and homeowners may purchase up to two per household.

🚧 Street improvements are starting around Laramie this spring.

The City of Laramie has partnered with Knife River on a major project to rehabilitate more than 9 lane miles of roadway across town. Work will include new asphalt, curb and gutter repairs, ADA ramps, sidewalks, and base repairs to help keep Laramie’s streets safer and smoother.

Crews will be working March through October, with each street typically closed for no more than about four weeks while work is underway.

Streets scheduled for improvements include:
4th Street, Skyline Drive, Adams Street, Ivinson Avenue, McCue Street, Spring Creek Drive, 22nd Street, Sheridan Street, Reynolds Street, South Colorado Avenue, and General Brees Road.

You can track closures and project updates here:

A little construction now means better streets for everyone later.

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office is taking the plunge on March 7 at Washington Park — all to raise money for Special Olympics Wyoming.

This fundraiser supports athletes with intellectual disabilities across our state by helping provide year-round sports training and competition. It’s a simple way to make a real difference right here in Wyoming.

If you’re able, consider donating and supporting a great cause (and maybe helping our local deputies earn a little friendly bragging rights along the way).

The University of Wyoming is testing new technology that could make Wyoming highways safer by using fiber-optic cables and artificial intelligence to monitor traffic and weather in real time.

If successful, the system could help WYDOT respond faster to icy roads, accidents, and dangerous conditions across the state.

If you’ve ever driven on a Wyoming highway in the winter, you know how fast things can change. One minute the road is clear. The next minute there’s ice, blowing snow, or a vehicle off the road — a…
