Presenting the WCHF Interns of 2025 ✨

Mariela is a rising sophomore at Texas A&M University, where she’s majoring in Journalism and Communications. On campus, she’s actively involved in journalism and law clubs and works with the Department of Multicultural Services.

This summer, Mariela is bringing her storytelling skills to “The Webbcast,” our soon-to-debut short-form show designed for social media. We can’t wait to share it with you!

When she’s not diving into her studies, Mariela enjoys reading and playing volleyball. We're so excited to have her on the team!

Meet Alisa Peña, our community archivist!

Alisa is currently studying Music Education with a focus on Piano at Laredo College. As our Community Archivist, she supports daily operations and is helping digitize oral histories for our online archive. She brings fresh ideas and thoughtful insight to the team.

Before joining WCHF, Alisa was a member of Los Cinco, a grassroots group dedicated to improving neighborhoods around Zacate Creek. Through her work, she used the arts as a powerful tool to spark community engagement and drive positive change.

Outside of her work and studies, you can catch her exploring downtown, checking out art exhibits, or hitting the pickleball court (and she’s even offered to give the WCHF team a few lessons!)

Meet Karina Delgado, a proud Laredo native and TAMIU alumna!

Karina is currently pursuing graduate studies at Texas State University and has joined the Webb County Heritage Foundation to help us develop engaging learning experiences for Laredo’s youth, all while integrating innovative educational technology into our programs.

When she’s not working on educational outreach, Karina enjoys spending time with friends and family, and hitting the dance floor for a little social Latin dancing.

We’re so excited to have her talent and energy as part of our team!
