Laredoans could see higher water and sewer costs as the city moves forward with annual rate increases and major infrastructure investments.

The City of Laredo’s current rate schedule calls for a 5% annual increase in water rates, including another increase beginning in October 1st 2026. At the same time, the city is planning major investments in water and wastewater infrastructure, including funding for water-line replacements, meter upgrades, storage facilities and sewer improvements.
With the rising cost of utilities, infrastructure and other household expenses, the impact of these increases on Laredo families and individuals will be an important issue for the community to watch.
