Lyndon B. Johnson High School and the UISD Department of Athletics are proud to announce the hiring of Roberto Diaz as the new head swimming coach. With a background as a competitive swimmer and experience in aquatics, Diaz is set to lead the Wolves' swimming program.

Diaz is a UISD product and graduate of J.B. Alexander High School, where he was a standout competitive swimmer from 4th through 12th grade. He went on to earn both a Bachelor's and a Master's in Business Administration from Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). Coach Diaz currently serves as a social studies teacher and has 13 years of experience in the aquatics field.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Diaz to the Johnson family," said Johnson High School Principal Armando Salazar. "We look forward to him continuing to develop our program and leading our students in the pool and in the classroom."

Athletic Director Bobby Cruz also expressed his enthusiasm for the hire. "We are proud to add another UISD product to our coaching staff. Coach Diaz was an excellent student and athlete for us. I have no doubt that he will be an excellent leader for our student-athletes and be a positive influence in their lives."

Coach Diaz added, "I cannot begin to describe the excitement I feel in being selected as the head swimming coach at LBJ High School. Coaching has always been my passion. I want to thank Principal Salazar for giving me this great opportunity to lead this program. With my experience, I plan on growing this team and to push our athletes to the best of their abilities as well as build their confidence and guide them so that they become the best version of themselves. I want all of our students to feel like they can excel in anything they do as long as they put their mind and heart into it. Go Wolves!"

Coach Diaz's combination of academic achievement, athletic experience, and deep roots in the swimming community makes him a great addition to the LBJ coaching staff. The school looks forward to the future success of the swimming program under his leadership.
