Ready for a quick haunting?

A decrepit jail sits on an abandoned plot of land that is soon to be repurposed. A ghost wanders its derelict halls, filling the night with its anguished moans. Why does the ghost haunt these halls and how will it react to visitors intent upon demolishing the crumbling structure?

Q-Haunts are specialized encounters centered on a supernatural occurrence. With that, there comes an added element of danger with the incorporation of ‘haunting effects’. Similar to the stages of exhaustion, ‘haunting effects’ influence a character’s ability to deal with the shock and horror of the situation, and potentially having lasting effects. These are only optional rules for the DM to include, if desired.

Unfinished Business is a Q-Haunt, or Quick-Haunt, that can be run for a group of four to six players with 4th-level characters or higher. This encounter would be considered a ‘medium’ to ‘hard’ encounter.

Echoes of the Tempest

There exists a long-abandoned chapel that once belonged to the Order of the Infinite Step, a cult that worshipped Istim the Unseen, a djinni king of extraordinary power who is said to rule vast regions of the Elemental Plane of Air. It was fashioned with sonorous rock formations that played hymn-like tunes when the wind blew just right. Over time, the ruins grew quieter but now what sound they do produce escapes as eerie eolian echoes. Recently, some research emerged identifying the chapel’s site and suggests treasures still lie somewhere in its remains. These valuables are sought after by more than just curious adventurers. The scholar initially planned to hide his discovery until he could put together an expedition party to visit the site, but things have changed. Not all faiths are as dead as they appear, and the Infinite Step has sensitive ears.

Echoes of the Tempest is a Q-Encounter, or Quick-Encounter, that can be run for a group of four to six players with 7th-level characters or higher. This encounter would be considered a ‘medium’ to ‘hard’ encounter.
