Friends in Fremont County and across Senate District 4:

This Wednesday I’ll be in Cañon City and I hope you’ll join us!

Incumbent SD4 Senator Mark Baisley , who is running for U.S. Senate, Commissioners Debbie Bell and Dwayne McFall, and several of Fremont’s county officials are gathering from 5:00–6:30 p.m. at the Gibson Mansion in support of Kevin J. Grantham for State Treasurer and my campaign for State Senate District 4.

Fremont is the largest-population county of the eight in Senate District 4, and I’m in Fremont often at public events, as well as in the other seven counties in the district: Jefferson, Douglas, Park, Lake, Chaffee, Custer, and Teller. The purpose of this evening is different: to specifically help Kevin Grantham and me get across the finish line and help bring sanity back to this state.

We can’t do it without you!

The State Treasurer is one of the few statewide offices that can actually put a hand on the brake. That office is the state’s banker. It oversees how tax dollars are held, invested, and accounted for. When Denver is spending at a pace most families could never survive, you need someone in that seat who treats public money like it belongs to the public not like a blank check. Kevin understands budgets, reserves, and the real-world cost of the Gold Dome’s radical spending. He can be a check on the state’s pocketbook at a moment when Colorado families are already paying more for housing, energy, groceries, and government.

The Senate fight is just as urgent. We are only one seat away from a Democrat supermajority. A supermajority does not just pass bills. It can lock in tax and spending policy, override resistance, and leave rural Colorado with almost no leverage. It also makes it far easier to put constitutional changes on the ballot including changes that weaken TABOR, local control, and the guardrails voters put in place to protect their wallets. We must keep SD4 Red! Without it we are outnumbered to the point that common-sense amendments, oversight, and even the state constitution itself can be rewritten over the objections of communities like ours. Keeping this seat Red is how we keep a real voice for the eight counties of District 4 and rural Colorado.

Details and suggested contribution are on the flyer. If you’d like to stand with us, we’d be honored to have you there.

ENDORSEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT! I'm honored to announce that the Colorado State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed our campaign for State Senate District 4.

The FOP is the largest law enforcement organization in Colorado, representing more than 10,000 sworn officers. This came from the state lodge itself, signed by their president.

I've posted their letter below. I'd rather you read it in their words than have me tell you what's in it.

One thing I do want to say about it.

There are more people in this district who don't fit neatly inside either party than there are Republicans or Democrats. That's the biggest group we've got. If that's you, this is the endorsement I'd ask you to look at hardest.

Here's why. The FOP isn't a political organization. It's a professional one. Its lodges back Republicans and Democrats, here and everywhere else in the country. Cops aren't a voting bloc, and they don't hand these out as favors.

What they're looking at is whether someone will actually be useful to them at the Capitol. They have to live under whatever gets written there. A badly drafted law isn't a talking point to a deputy — it's their shift, and sometimes it's their safety.

So they tend to look harder than a party does. You don't have to agree with me about everything to think that counts for something.

Every day in this district, people put on a uniform and go do a job most of us wouldn't want and couldn't do. Long shifts, big country, backup a long way off. They take the calls nobody else wants.

To the officers, deputies and dispatchers across Fremont, Chaffee, Park, Teller, Lake, Custer, southern Jefferson and rural Douglas — thank you for the work, and thank you for putting your name behind this campaign. I know what it's worth.

My thanks to President Micheal Deedon and the members of the Colorado State Lodge.

Read the letter. Then let's get to work.

Had a great time this week at the Teller County HDSA (Honorary Deputy Sheriff Association) Awards Banquet. It was an honor to be there and show support for our men and women in blue who serve our community with courage, dedication, and professionalism every day.

I will always support and help our servants in blue and stand behind those who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe.

Thank you to Sheriff Mikesell and everyone involved for a wonderful evening. We are grateful for your heroic service and commitment to our community. 🇺🇸🚔
