One Day I Too Go Fly

One Day I Too Go Fly We create universal films that reveal, represent, and celebrate Africa in a globalized world. The film is currently in post-production.

BRIEF TENDER LIGHT is a feature-length documentary following a group of students from Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, as they complete their undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). We join them as they immerse themselves in the challenge of rigorous academics, navigate a new world, and embark on a quest for knowledge that will shape their adult identities.

NAIJA BETA tells the story of a team of Nigerian and Nigerian-American undergraduates at MIT who head home to Nigeria to shake up education through a robotics summer camp for high-schoolers. The 50-minute documentary premiered in 2016 and played at film festivals in Africa, Europe and America, winning several awards (ACHIEVEMENT IN DOCUMENTARY FILM โ€“ Silicon Valley African Film Festival 2016; BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE FILM โ€“ Urban Mediamakers Film Festival 2016; BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM โ€“ Roxbury International Film Festival 2016; and HIGH OUTPUT DIRECTOR AWARD โ€“ Arlington International Film Festival 2016). Film critic Carla Renata chats with Brief Tender Light director Arthur Musah in the latest episode of the HALF HOUR WITH Director Talks series.

Among the many aspects of the film discussed is the Ghanaian ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ director's coming out letter to his family during his college days as an international student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). We're thinking of Ghana's LGBTQ+ ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ community and allies today especially as Ghana votes for a new government, when the two leading presidential candidates have chosen to whip up hate for q***r people in order to win votes. Ghana's Supreme Court is deciding whether a hate bill criminalizing LGBTQ+people can proceed to the president for signing, so the next Ghanaian president may be faced with whether to sign a horrible, unjust bill into law.

We're so proud of Brief Tender Light's Philip Abel Adama, now cofounder and CTO of Cleva Banking!

Imagine picking up a check for services rendered only to find youโ€™d received only half what you expectedโ€”not because the figure on the check is wrong, but because the money itself is worth less than when you sent the bill, so you have less purchasing power. This is a common occurrence in Nigeria; in the last year alone, its currency experienced a 230 percent loss of value. To address this, Philip Adama Abel โ€™15 cofounded Cleva, a banking platform that enables individuals and businesses to use more stable US dollars for financial transactions. https://bit.ly/3AjGFVH
