In 1958, a slot machine mechanic and pilot at the Hacienda Hotel had an idea: keep an airplane in the air longer than anyone had ever done before ✈️🎰

Robert Timm and John Cook took off from McCarran Field that December and didn’t touch the ground again for more than 64 days. They refueled from a moving truck, had food and supplies passed up to them, battled exhaustion and mechanical failures, and eventually returned to Las Vegas with an aviation endurance record that still stands today.

And the best part? The actual Cessna 172 is still in Las Vegas. If you’ve walked through Terminal 1 at Harry Reid International Airport, you may have already seen it hanging above baggage claim.

Vegas history is truly something else ✨

Vegas has plenty of late-night food, but sometimes you want an actual sit-down meal after a concert or show 🥢

Garionban is a Korean restaurant in Chinatown that originally started in Gangnam, Seoul. We tried their bossam and marinated pork combo, kimchi fried rice, dumplings and corn cheese, and the marinated pork ended up being the favorite at our table.

They’re also open until 3 AM every night and only about 12 minutes from Allegiant Stadium, so definitely one to keep in mind for your next late Vegas night.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about expanding some of my Vegas content into longer-form videos 👀

I love making short videos, but there are SO many stories where I feel like I’m barely scratching the surface before I have to wrap it up.

So I’m curious: if you watch longer videos on YouTube, what would you actually want to see from me? More deep dives into weird/forgotten Vegas history? The stories behind old casinos and attractions? How Vegas has changed through different eras? Longer versions of topics I’ve already covered? Something completely different?

And when you watch this kind of content, what feels like the sweet spot: 10–15 minutes? 20–30? Longer if the story is good?

I have some ideas 👀 but I’d genuinely love to know what you’d click on. Thanks in advance for your input!

If you grew up in the 2000s, this one might feel a little nostalgic 📺✨

There’s still a surprising amount of 2000s Las Vegas you can experience today, including the Titanic exhibition, a German b**r hall from 2004, O at Bellagio, and of course the Palms, which became practically synonymous with the MTV and celebrity culture of the era.

For food, we’ve got a longtime local Chinese restaurant that opened in 2001 and is now MICHELIN Recommended. And for nightlife, we’re finishing 55 floors above Vegas at a lounge where Britney Spears partied before her infamous 55-hour marriage.

The 2000s really were a time! 😂🎰 Here’s how I’d experience the era in Las Vegas today.

Vegas once had an entire Old West theme park called Old Vegas 🤠🎰

It opened in Henderson in 1978 with a replica fort, railroad, casino and Old West town. It briefly became Westworld, received three surviving buildings from the original El Rancho Vegas, and eventually closed in 1986, never to reopen.

The park is long gone, but its history is still scattered around the valley, from street names in Old Vegas Ranch to the Rafael Rivera statue that once stood outside the attraction.

The original Stardust might be one of my favorite examples of how much Las Vegas reflects the culture around it ✨

When it opened in 1958, America was deep in the early Space Race. Sputnik had launched less than a year earlier, Explorer 1 followed in January, and NASA was created just 27 days after the Stardust opened.

Then Vegas took that fascination with satellites, planets and the future and turned it into neon 🌎🚀

The original Stardust feels like a little time capsule of a moment when America was completely captivated by what came next. And Vegas has always been good at taking whatever America is fascinated by and turning it into spectacle.

Las Vegas is constantly rebuilding itself, but sometimes pieces of the old Strip get left behind.

The Sands, Stardust and Desert Inn all buried time capsules during their histories. Some were meant to remain underground for decades — even a century.

There was just one problem: eventually, all three casinos were demolished.

Today their former sites are home to the Venetian, Resorts World and Wynn, and the ultimate fate of several of those capsules remains unclear.

Maybe they were removed. Maybe they were destroyed. Or maybe pieces of old Vegas are still down there waiting to be found 👀✨

Imagine driving down Las Vegas Boulevard and seeing a 400-foot Titanic next to a giant iceberg 🚢🧊

That was a real proposal.

Bob Stupak announced Titanic Las Vegas in 1999, during the height of Vegas’ themed-resort era. The $1.2 billion concept included roughly 1,200 “cabins,” a giant iceberg with a showroom and even a proposed train toward downtown.

And the promotional film featured the Titanic rising from the ocean while Robert Goulet sang a song written by Stupak.

Titanic Las Vegas was never built, but the fact that the proposal got this far says a lot about just how ambitious ’90s Vegas development could be ✨

We’ve been here several times and still haven’t tried everything 😂

Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace has 250+ dishes, open kitchens, tons of seafood, and a seriously impressive dessert selection. It’s definitely a splurge, but between the variety, quality, and sheer scale of this place, I understand why 🍽️🎲
