I moved to China to start my career as a golf professional in 2007, my first 3 months in China 🇨🇳 were an incredible challenge. At my lowest point I thought about quitting and moving home to America.
One day I called my father and he gave me some incredible advice. He told me, “Cyrus, I know it’s tough, but why don’t you commit to working hard and persevering for 1 year. If you don’t like it after 1 year, come home. But you need to go all in and commit”.
What are you experiencing in life that is giving you a challenge? Have you gone all in and committed to making a change?
This advice from my father changed my life! The next day I went to work with a purpose. I began studying Chinese 2-3 hours every day. Within 12 months I was giving golf lessons in Mandarin, 18 months later I was the busiest and highest producing golf coach at our academy in Shanghai. I ended up staying in China for 10 years and built an amazing career, all because of this simple advice my father gave me 🙏🏼
My father is the most spiritual man I know. Every day he memorized scripture, meditates, and to this day is the person I call up when times get difficult. On this Father’s Day I think about the incredible influence he has had on my life.
Fast forward to today and I’m a father of 3 amazing children and every day I wake up and try to be the same positive role model for them. Thank you Pops for everything you do!
