Transparency post: I always schedule a test shoot before I practice a new technique on a client. I am willing to make adjustments on the spot, but I don’t wanna be caught off guard.

July doesn’t owe me anything but a slice of cake. 🎂

At the beginning of the month, I made it a goal to photograph 30 people. Well… this is why we have to be a little more specific with our goals and prayers. 😂

Somehow, I ended up photographing well over 100 faces this month.

✨ Worked 4 events.
✨ Lost count of how many portrait sessions I did between my July birthday special and my Signature Shoots.
✨ Took 2 photography classes and walked away with so much knowledge.

I worked so hard I actually burned myself out and slept for 9 straight hours one day. 😅 Every opportunity on my plate was something I prayed for, and I don’t regret a single minute of it.

I’m ending this month with more experience, more confidence, and a deeper love for what I do.

A lot of you met me when I had my body care business, Halo Naturelles. Before that, I was a beauty student trying to pay for school and trying to do everything the “right” way.

The truth is… it was never my dream. It was something that made sense for me at the time.

Trying to keep up with registrations, licenses, taxes, and all the behind the scenes parts of running a business became overwhelming, especially when my heart wasn’t fully in it anymore.

But that chapter taught me so much. I learned about marketing, social media, branding, and advertising. Then everything changed when I borrowed a friend’s camera and did my own photoshoot for my business.

That moment introduced me to something I didn’t know I was looking for.

I still remember the day I announced my website was closing. Someone told me, “I’m sorry you had to close your business.”

And honestly… I didn’t understand why they were sorry.

There was nothing sad about it. It wasn’t a failure. It was simply a chapter that was ready to end.

People reinvent themselves all the time. Businesses open, close, and evolve. I didn’t feel like I failed by letting go I felt like I would’ve failed myself by continuing to pour into something I wasn’t passionate about anymore.

The best thing I ever did for myself was pick up a camera. 😊
