The saga continues...

In my last post, I shared what can happen when creative partners don't communicate. This time, I wanted to talk about what can happen when we do.

That's where Entertainment Design and Collaboration meet.

Entertainment Design is the intentional collaboration of the creative partners to shape the guest experience.

Because the set design, atmosphere, entertainment, production, florals and all those little details that make guests say wow don't exist independently of one another.

They work together.

And as my friends at ERO Weddings so perfectly put it, when creative partners understand what each other needs to do their best work, “the couple and their guests are going to feel that difference.”

That's what we're designing.

Not just our individual piece of the wedding.
The experience our guests feel.

And this conversation is just getting started.

The collaboration conversation continues...

In my last post, I talked about how we all start in our own lanes, mastering our individual crafts before entering weddings, where those lanes suddenly intersect.

I believe the best celebrations happen when we bring those perspectives together and create a shared vision for the client.

Part of the reason I care so much about collaboration today is because I know exactly what it feels like when it isn't there.

This wedding was one of those experiences.

Since then, I've worked with incredible planners who welcomed my perspective, challenged my thinking, and made me better at what I do.

Eventually, I realized I had experienced a collaboration problem.

Collaboration isn't about staying out of each other's lanes. It's about respecting each other's expertise while inviting each other's perspective.

Sometimes Planners see something I don't. Sometimes I see something Planners don't. And sometimes the best solution is something neither of us would have found alone.

That's Collaboration!

Oh, and that last photo?

That's me five years later, back at the Atlanta History Center, where I was invited to host and entertain the Diamond Awards Gala.

And the little diamond I'm holding?

The Diamond Award for Best Reception DJ.

Funny how things come full circle.

We spend years mastering our individual craft.

Then we enter an industry where success depends on working together.

Collaboration isn't something we inherently develop. It's something we figure out along the way.

Over the coming weeks, I want to explore what collaboration really looks like in the wedding industry. Not just between planners and DJs, but across every discipline that contributes to a celebration.

Because the best celebrations aren't created by one professional.

They're created by many.
