The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone: Nature’s Masterpiece You Can’t Miss

Tucked deep in the heart of America’s first national park, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is a jaw-dropping spectacle that feels like something out of a dream. Carved by the powerful Yellowstone River over thousands of years, this canyon is a must-see for anyone visiting the park—and here’s why:

1. 🎨 Nature’s Art Gallery

The canyon walls are painted in surreal shades of yellow, red, and pink—thanks to hydrothermal activity that’s baked the rock into a rainbow. It’s not just scenic, it’s stunning.

2. 💦 Waterfalls that Roar

Get ready to feel small (in the best way possible). The Upper Falls and Lower Falls are showstoppers—especially the 308-foot Lower Falls, which is nearly twice the height of Niagara.

3. 📸 Insta-Worthy Views

From Artist Point to Lookout Point, every turn offers a perfect shot. Whether you’re snapping pics or just soaking it in, you’ll remember these views forever.

4. 🚶 Trails for Every Explorer

From easy overlooks to longer hikes like the South Rim or Seven Mile Hole Trail, there’s a path for every pace—and every path delivers.

5. 🏞️ A Window into Yellowstone’s Soul

More than just a canyon, this place tells the story of the park—its geology, its power, and its wild, beautiful heart.

Sad days in Yellowstone National Park this is the second bear put down this year. The first was a male grizzly that figured out how to turn over dumpsters. ………………………….. (News Release) At approximately 5 p.m. July 11, Yellowstone National Park staff lethally removed an adult female black bear following a series of concerning incidents at a backcountry campsite located in the Blacktail Deer Creek drainage in the northern part of the park.

On June 7, the bear crushed an unoccupied tent at the campsite. A few weeks later, on July 11, the bear climbed the site’s food storage pole, tore down properly stored food bags, and consumed the campers’ food. Although it is uncommon for bears in Yellowstone to obtain human food, when it does occur, bears can quickly become food-conditioned and may act aggressively or dangerously around humans, putting both people and wildlife at risk. The bear’s escalating behavior - including property damage and obtaining a significant food reward - posed a clear threat to visitor safety and warranted removal.

“We go to great lengths to protect bears and prevent them from gaining access to human food in all areas of the park,” said Kerry Gunther, Yellowstone bear management biologist. “But occasionally, a bear outsmarts us or overcomes our defenses. When that happens, we sometimes have to make the difficult decision to remove the bear from the population to protect people and property.”

In accordance with Yellowstone’s bear management practices, each of the park’s 293 backcountry campsites is equipped with either a food storage pole or a bear-resistant storage box. Park guidelines require backcountry campers to hang food from the pole or secure it in the box at all times except when cooking or eating. Yellowstone reminds all visitors that utilizing these bear safety measures remain crucial in ensuring public safety and preventing wildlife from developing dangerous habits.

The last black bear killed in a management action in Yellowstone was in July 2020, when a black bear injured campers and accessed human food at a backcountry campsite in the park.

Yellowstone National Park has lots of thermal features we like the Mud Volcano area because of its easy access with board walks and the noise it makes as it rumbles.

The Mud Volcano area has many mudpots and hillsides strewn with trees cooked by steam. The hydrothermal features here are some of the most acidic in the park.

Mud Volcano is near the greatest uplift and sinking of the Yellowstone Caldera floor. Many faults converge here and earthquakes are common.

The areas surrounding the Mud Volcano vent and the other major vent near Old Faithful are called resurgent domes. Resurgent domes are active ground deformation, where the land moves up or down with the fluctuation of the magma chamber below. Scientists monitor these domes closely for information about ongoing volcanic activity.

How do you know you’re living your best life.

Well today someone asked me why every time they see me I’m smiling and upbeat. I had to think about for about a second.

I do know I’m blessed! I know I’m blessed by the things I get to do, places I get to go and most importantly the people I have been able to do them with.

I’m blessed not because I deserve it but because I received grace. I’m blessed so that I can bless others and share moments of happiness, kindness, and Friendship with those we meet along the way.

If looking for a big rig friendly RV Park in Yellowstone National Park the Fishing Bridge RV Park is your best option. The Fishing Bridge Recreational Vehicle Park is located near the mouth of the Yellowstone River as it leaves Yellowstone Lake. The RV park is named after the Fishing Bridge, a wooden vehicle bridge that used to provide a great platform from which park visitors would fish for native Cutthroat trout. Today, fishing is not allowed from the bridge, although visitors still congregate on the walkways to watch White Pelicans and other waterfowl gliding along the river’s surface, and to look for trout swimming under the crystal clear water. ……………………………………………..It was recently completed an extensive renovation of the RV Park, which provides 310 sites designated for hard-sided recreational vehicles only. The renovation included new and larger sites, a larger parking lot, a new dump station and recycling area, and an expanded registration building with more showers and laundry facilities. Four comfort stations were renovated to bring them to current ADA (accessibility) standards.

The Upper Loop of the RV park has 172 renovated and paved sites ranging from 40-feet to 95-feet in length. The 40-foot sites are double-wide and back-in. The majority of new sites include pull-through drives, and all of the Upper Loop has upgraded 50 amp/30 amp and 110-volt electrical service and picnic tables. (No other sites/loops were included in this renovation. There are 30- to 35-foot double-wide, back-in sites in other loops and 30-foot single-wide back-in.
