MVWD Board discusses upcoming rate increase

The Moapa Valley Water District Board of Directors reviewed details of a proposed rate increase during a meeting held on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 13. No action on the item was taken at the meeting, but the matter is expected to be brought again as an action item at the December meeting to be effective in January 2026. The proposed increase is part of a larger strategy that has been in motion throughout the past two years to keep up with increasing operational costs and fund a number of major capital projects that are needed in the MVWD system....

Volunteers help ‘green up’ warm springs natural area

More than 150 volunteers from Moapa Valley and throughout Southern Nevada pitched in to “green up” the Warm Springs Natural Area (WSNA) during an event hosted by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) on Saturday, Nov. 8. Working alongside SNWA staff members and contractors, they installed 2,000 native plants on two acres of an abandoned farm field at the WSNA. These plants included mesquite trees and various shrubs and grasses that were grown in the WSNA Nursery and two other local nurseries....

MV hosts successful High School Rodeo weekend

By RYLAN SPROUL The Progress This past weekend, Nov. 8 and 9, the Clark County Fairgrounds came alive with the sound of hooves, cheers and hometown pride as the Moapa Valley High School and Junior High Rodeo brought together youth athletes from across Nevada. Competitors gave it their all in events ranging from barrel racing and goat tying to team roping and bull riding, making for an action-packed weekend full of talent, grit and sportsmanship....

Elder Cooper Harris has received his mission call from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will serve in the New York, New York City Mission for years. He spoke in his Ward Sacrament meeting November 16, 2025. Cooper will begin his Home MTC, then December 3, he’ll go to the Provo Missionary Training Center. Cooper is the son of Nathan and Shannon Harris of the Summer Crest Ward, Mesquite East Stake.
