Itโ€™s not about how you start, and itโ€™s not about the setbacks along the wayโ€”itโ€™s about how you FINISH THE RACE. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽ“
Three weeks ago, Omar Alvarado Mejia missed out on walking across the stage at graduation. It would have been easy to give up or feel defeated, but that is simply not who Omar is.
Instead, he spent the last three weeks working harder than ever, putting in the hours, pushing through the challenges, and locking in to finish his requirements. Today, all that relentless hard work officially paid off as he earned his high school diploma! ๐Ÿ“œ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ
Omar, we are immensely proud of you. Thank you for setting a powerful example for every single student on this campus. You showed everyone exactly what it means to get back up when life knocks you down and make sure you finish what you started. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘‘
(Posted with proud permission from Omar and his family.) โค๏ธ
Please join us in the comments below to give Omar a massive round of applause and celebrate this incredible milestone! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ๐ŸŽ“๐ŸŽ‰

The Virgin Valley DAR held our 2nd Annual Women Veterans Luncheon at the Mesquite Veterans Center today. We honored chapter member Susan Wolfe with a Military Womens Memorial certificate and challenge coin. We also heard about Women Patriots of the American Revolution, and my friend and Marine shared a story of her time in the military to the audience.

I would also like to thank the Mesquite Veterans Center for their continued support of our chapter! โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the Mesquite Police Department and Mesquite Fire Department Honor Guard teams participated in the opening ceremony of the Best of the Best Charity Golf Tournament at Conestoga Golf Club.

This annual tournament is a tremendous community event that brings people together for a great cause. Proceeds from the tournament directly benefit Mesquiteโ€™s first responders, helping support those who dedicate themselves to serving our community.

We are grateful to the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and participants who make this event possible year after year. The continued success of this tournament is a reflection of the generosity and community spirit that make Mesquite such a special place to live and work.

Thank you for your support of our first responders and for always stepping up to make a difference. We are proud to serve a community that continually demonstrates such kindness, dedication, and appreciation.

We were honored to be part of this yearโ€™s opening ceremony and look forward to many more years of this event.

OPD5 does NOT have a demand charge on our residential customerโ€™s peak energy usage. Nevertheless, as temperatures rise, so does the demand for electricity. That can place a strain on the regional grid which can impact everyone. During summer months, energy use typically peaks in the late afternoon and early evening when air conditioners are working hardest. By shifting energy-intensive activities like laundry and cooking to times when demand is lower, you can help reduce strain on the grid. Together, we can keep power reliable for our entire community.
