Our guest tonight is Annelyn Juntoria-Deasis, also known as Anne, the mother of Kaneha. Anne is a retired professor from the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, with 37 years of government service. This evening, she joins the program as a mother sharing her personal experience.
Anne will speak about her daughter Kaneha’s journey with cancer and how the illness affected their entire family. Kaneha De Asis, was the FACC cancer patient beneficiary who passed away from stage 4 colorectal cancer. Kaneha’s story shows that cancer does not affect only one person. It reaches parents, siblings, friends, and others, especially when loved ones are separated by distance.
Through this program, Filipino American Cancer Care continues its work of sharing real stories like Kaneha’s. The organization supports patients and families while also providing education on prevention, early detection, treatment options, and the emotional and spiritual care needed during the cancer journey.
Tonight’s discussion encourages everyone listening to take their health seriously. Learn the warning signs. Pay attention to changes in your body. Talk with your loved ones and friends. Share information and seek help when needed.
Awareness grows through one story and one conversation at a time. Join us tonight as Anne shares her voice as a mother, and as FACC continues its mission to make sure that no Filipino or Filipino American faces cancer alone.
