It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of a beloved member of our ViBE Tribe family, Danny “Lostboy” Baldwin.
Danny was a towering presence in the EDM world, hailing from Southern California and spinning Happy Hardcore since the early 1990s. His influence was felt far and wide — from underground warehouses to massive festival stages.
In the late 90’s - early 2000s, he influenced Hardcore into EDC (then known as the Electric Daisy Carnival).
Working closely with Pasquale Rotella during the event’s formative years.
A true pioneer of the American underground rave scene, Danny’s contributions were nothing short of legendary. In the studio, he collaborated with icons such as Simon Apex, DNA, Fade, Devastate, and Coyote, with several releases on SSU Recordings. As co-founder of the Systems Insane promotion and production crew, he helped bring to life countless large-scale raves under the HTID, Hardcore Heaven, and Clubland banners in the U.S., as well as the long-running Hard Rush event series in Los Angeles.
Danny also played a key role in expanding the Happy Hardcore sound during the mid-to-late ’90s while working for Majestic Distribution (Alphamagic UK), helping DJs across North America discover and share the music he loved.
Danny “Lostboy” Baldwin passed away on August 9, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife Krista, and his son Ethan, along with countless friends.
Details for a memorial service to celebrate Danny’s life will be announced soon.
His passion, energy, and love for the music will forever echo in the hearts of those who danced with him, worked beside him, and called him a friend.
Rest in peace, Lostboy — your beat goes on.
