This was a wonderful tribute by Kip Moore re: the loss of a very talented, well respected & loved singer/songwriter, who tragically perished in a plane crash along with his wife and his wife's daughter. He will be truly missed, but his legacy will remain
My buddy Dan called me as soon as I stepped off the stage Thursday night, to tell me that our dear friend Brett James had passed in a plane crash. I’ve been wearing a mask the last couple nights, just trying to get through the shows but now the weight is really pushing down. Brett was larger than life. He was such a rare force of nature that burned like a blistering vibrant comet for all us to stand in awe of, just wishing we could burn half as bright. Brett was the first to believe in me as a songwriter. He signed me back in 2008 and I don’t know if we went a day without hanging together for the next 4 years. He was my best friend, my confidant, my shrink (tho he was just as nuts as I was), my teacher, and he never wavered on anything. I sit here trying to think of the proper word or words to describe him and it’s impossible to summarize who he was, simply because he was so many things. He was simply the best. I can’t believe you’re gone B. There was so much more left in that engine you constantly had redlined. We had just texted each other how much we missed seeing each other and I’d give anything for another hang to express what you’ve meant to my life. Thank you brother. I’ll see you again on the other side.
