On this day, we bow our heads for the souls lost, and lift our hearts in gratitude.

To the men, women, and dogs who charged into unimaginable danger on 9/11: you searched the ruins, soothed the grief, held space for hope when hope seemed gone. Dogs like Bretagne, Thunder, and those comfort-pups who sat beside the wounded souls…your paws marked the path forward.

Your courage sparked something bigger: greater understanding of what a loyal companion can be in crisis; stronger support for canine search & rescue, therapy, and comfort work; and hope that healing can come even in darkness.

Though we at Hearts Alive Village are far from Ground Zero, we carry your legacy with us. We remember you, all the heroes, seen and unseen.
