For the past twenty years I have been focusing on my company Musicmixpros.com for doing mixing and mastering for artists. I’m still doing that but, I used to play a lot of guitar prior to that. So I am dusting off the Eric Clapton Fender Stratocaster a replica known as “Blackie,” of the original. I am restringing it and trying to shake off tons of rust! When I played in rock bands in the 80’s in the Los Angeles area I played for hours everyday. Sadly those skills are long gone, but I believe with some practice one day I might get somewhat close. I also have a Takamine acoustic and a Les Paul that I will restring and cleanup too! I don’t use an amp or plan to play live, but recording in my studio should be a lot of fun!

You never know what life brings you. A few years back I was at a music industry professionals convention called NAMM in Anaheim California. I was focusing on learning about the newest audio mixing gear. While walking through the halls of the Anaheim Convention Center I stopped to listen to this legend in the music industry singing a well known song called "Superstition." I was standing about five feet from Stevie Wonder!

I have gone to Audio Mixing School (Berklee) and I have been mixing professionally for well over two decades. I have a Kazillion great plugins. I truly can say that the W.A, Production plugins always seem to make it into my mix projects. The Vocal Shaper, Kick shaper, Deres, and Bass Shaper are all fantastic. The MixBoss, I recently tried out and is another winner! I don't use it for mastering purposes, but on my mix bus as I do the mixing is where it lives. I really don't pay much attention to the settings, i love the presets, but also I turn the k***s as needed and got fantastic results! Seriously, this very simple plugin adds that magic and depth that really is special! Great job! Love what you are doing W.A. Production!

Getting back to music composition, the desire to create is back! In the past I have played guitar in several rock bands in the LA area. Then I composed a musical, and then a rock opera. Now I am going to try a different approach. An album in the vibe of a Mannheim Steamrollar, Enya, Yanni, and Trans Siberian Orchestra is in the works. Also, there are lots of great vocalist in the Lake Chapala area, possibly some collaborations? It has been a while, mostly I have been focused on Audio Mixing and I am still going to run MusicMixPros.com. Only now I will be getting back to doing music creation. Perhaps this will take my mind off of a lot of the political anger that is rampen these days. My writing style is fairly slow so this could take a year or so, but it all starts here and now.

A few years back I won a Audio Mix contest! It was a Latin song by a Grammy winning artist! Puremix.com put the tracks up on their site and about 2800 Engineers entered the contest! I just found this picture, however I wish the links were still active. Ahhh fun times!

The Vertigo VSS-2 is a plugin that incorporates several of Vertigo's hardware emulations in one plugin. This is a channel strip that simply sounds amazing! It's emulating pro hardware gear worth around 10K by Vertigo. Clean enough for mastering and powerful enough to tackle some heavy lifting while mixing! Very impressive!
