I have gone to Audio Mixing School (Berklee) and I have been mixing professionally for well over two decades. I have a Kazillion great plugins. I truly can say that the W.A, Production plugins always seem to make it into my mix projects. The Vocal Shaper, Kick shaper, Deres, and Bass Shaper are all fantastic. The MixBoss, I recently tried out and is another winner! I don't use it for mastering purposes, but on my mix bus as I do the mixing is where it lives. I really don't pay much attention to the settings, i love the presets, but also I turn the k***s as needed and got fantastic results! Seriously, this very simple plugin adds that magic and depth that really is special! Great job! Love what you are doing W.A. Production!

Getting back to music composition, the desire to create is back! In the past I have played guitar in several rock bands in the LA area. Then I composed a musical, and then a rock opera. Now I am going to try a different approach. An album in the vibe of a Mannheim Steamrollar, Enya, Yanni, and Trans Siberian Orchestra is in the works. Also, there are lots of great vocalist in the Lake Chapala area, possibly some collaborations? It has been a while, mostly I have been focused on Audio Mixing and I am still going to run MusicMixPros.com. Only now I will be getting back to doing music creation. Perhaps this will take my mind off of a lot of the political anger that is rampen these days. My writing style is fairly slow so this could take a year or so, but it all starts here and now.

A few years back I won a Audio Mix contest! It was a Latin song by a Grammy winning artist! Puremix.com put the tracks up on their site and about 2800 Engineers entered the contest! I just found this picture, however I wish the links were still active. Ahhh fun times!

The Vertigo VSS-2 is a plugin that incorporates several of Vertigo's hardware emulations in one plugin. This is a channel strip that simply sounds amazing! It's emulating pro hardware gear worth around 10K by Vertigo. Clean enough for mastering and powerful enough to tackle some heavy lifting while mixing! Very impressive!

Simply put the best compressor I have ever used! The Softube SMC 2B multi-band optical tube compressor adds tube warmth and depth too just about anything. Fantastic on mastering but also amazing on individual instruments and vocals. This is a plugin emulation by Softube that is fully endorsed by Tube-Tech who is the hardware developer. I have heard the A/B comparisons between the emulation and hardware and they are remarkably identical. These hardware compressors are very expensive and cost about $5k but the software version is a fraction of that price! This compressor is a top choice by many in the industry and I can see why! Great job Softube on coding this plugin!

Today I took the DAW by UAD "LUNA" for a ride. I use a UAD Apollo 8 interface and that was a nice match! However, I still believe that UAD has a ways to go. In the four years since their release they made great strides and as a free DAW making it a fantastic value. But, my PreSonus Studio One V6 Pro is far ahead and I will continue my on with PreSonus. The editing in the PreSonus is nicer and the interface I believe isn't as workflow friendly for me with LUNA however it looks fantastic! But, if you are looking for a great FREE DAW for your recording and mixing needs check out LUNA. For mastering PreSonus has a project page for mastering which is a bit more than adequate, but with the project page you will need some fantastic 3rd party plugins to make it sound fantastic!
